To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.
We are hiring a Senior Data Analytics Engineer for our Data Analytics and AI team. We own Snowflake's internal data platform, powering analytics across Finance, Sales, and HR, and we're looking for someone to help shape what's possible for the teams who rely on it every day.
Location: Menlo Park, CA
Team: Data Analytics and AI

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
- Shape the architecture and design principles for Snowflake's internal data platform, owning decisions that affect how data flows, is governed, and accessed across Finance, Sales, HR, and other business-critical functions
- Lead cross-functional data initiatives from problem framing through delivery, aligning stakeholders across Engineering, Analytics, and Business Systems on what to build and why
- Define and enforce RBAC frameworks, row access policies, and masking policies at scale, ensuring the right data reaches the right people with appropriate governance controls
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted data workflows by integrating LLM-powered tools, Cortex Agents, and automation capabilities into the team's data engineering practice
- Set the technical standard for dbt at scale, defining modeling conventions, testing frameworks, and CI/CD practices adopted by the full data team
- Influence without authority across teams by writing architecture docs, technical specs, and stakeholder-facing materials that drive alignment and accelerate delivery
- Identify and resolve systemic data quality, performance, and reliability issues, raising the bar for what "done" looks like on the platform
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 8+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data architecture, or related roles, or equivalent experience
- Deep expertise in Snowflake, including advanced data modeling, RBAC design, performance optimization, and the broader feature set (Cortex, Dynamic Tables, Streams, Tasks)
- Expert-level dbt skills (dbt Core and/or dbt Platform), including macro development, testing frameworks, CI/CD integration, and large-scale project management
- Strong proficiency with AI development tools, including LLM-powered workflows, agent frameworks (Cortex Agents, Claude Code, Cortex Code), and prompt engineering for data use cases
- Experience designing and implementing RBAC frameworks at scale, including row access policies, masking policies, and role hierarchies in Snowflake or similar platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of writing clear technical specs, architecture documents, and stakeholder-facing materials
- Demonstrated ability to operate with principal-level scope: driving cross-functional initiatives, influencing without authority, and delivering outcomes across multiple teams
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience working at a technology company with a large-scale internal data platform
- Familiarity with Python for data pipeline development, scripting, and automation
- Experience presenting technical content to external audiences (customers, conferences)
- Experience with Snowflake Cortex AI or GenAI-native data tooling in production environments

Align your portfolio to Snowflake's data stack
Snowflake recruiters respond to candidates who demonstrate hands-on experience with cloud-native analytics tools. Build portfolio projects that show SQL fluency, Snowflake-specific features like Time Travel or data sharing, and experience connecting to BI layers like Tableau or Looker.
Target roles tied to a specific cloud segment
Snowflake structures its Data Analyst hiring around business units like Sales, Finance, and Product. Applying to a segment-specific role rather than a generic opening increases your chances because the hiring manager has a defined business problem your background should directly address.
Clarify your visa category before your first interview
Snowflake sponsors multiple visa types for this role, so knowing exactly which category applies to you, whether H-1B, TN, or OPT, lets you answer recruiter questions cleanly. Ambiguity about your status early in the process can stall or derail an otherwise strong application.
Understand OPT cap-gap before your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT and your program ends before an H-1B petition takes effect, USCIS cap-gap protections may extend your work authorization through September 30. Confirm your program end date and OPT expiration with your DSO well before negotiating a start date with Snowflake.
Request H-1B premium processing during offer negotiation
USCIS premium processing reduces the adjudication window to 15 business days. For Data Analyst offers at Snowflake, asking your recruiter whether the company elects premium processing helps you set a realistic start date and avoids months of uncertainty after the lottery.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Data Analyst roles at Snowflake
Sponsorship-friendly openings at companies like Snowflake don't always stay visible for long. Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you can track Data Analyst postings at Snowflake without manually sifting through roles that won't support your status.

Does Snowflake sponsor H-1B visas for Data Analysts?
Yes, Snowflake sponsors H-1B visas for Data Analyst roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery, so timing your application around the April filing window matters. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, Snowflake can file an H-1B transfer petition, which lets you start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition.
Which visa types does Snowflake commonly sponsor for Data Analyst roles?
Snowflake sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Data Analyst positions. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying analytical roles can use TN status, which has no lottery and no annual cap. OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates before transitioning to H-1B.
How do I apply for Data Analyst jobs at Snowflake?
Search Snowflake's careers page for Data Analyst openings and filter by the business unit most aligned with your background, such as Finance, Product, or Sales Analytics. Tailor your application to show direct experience with cloud data platforms and SQL-based analysis. You can also browse current Snowflake Data Analyst roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate.
What qualifications does Snowflake expect for Data Analyst candidates?
Snowflake typically looks for a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline. Strong SQL skills are expected across almost all postings. Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker, and familiarity with cloud data warehouse environments, meaningfully strengthens your application for this function.
How does the timeline work if Snowflake sponsors my H-1B as a Data Analyst?
If Snowflake files an H-1B cap-subject petition on your behalf, the lottery runs in March and approved petitions take effect October 1. From offer acceptance to work authorization, plan for a six-month-plus gap unless you're transferring from existing H-1B status. USCIS premium processing shortens adjudication to 15 business days once your petition is selected, but it doesn't change the October 1 start date.
