Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Sodexo's Executive Chef roles typically require a culinary degree or equivalent formal training. Confirm your credentials translate clearly to U.S. specialty occupation standards before applying, since a mismatch slows down any petition filed with USCIS.
Target Sodexo's healthcare and campus dining segments
Sodexo fills Executive Chef openings most consistently within healthcare facilities and university dining programs. Prioritize applications in those segments, where high-volume contract renewals drive ongoing culinary leadership demand throughout the year.
Ask about visa type early in the interview process
Sodexo has sponsored multiple visa categories for culinary roles. During early conversations with the recruiter, ask which visa pathway they plan to use, since the documentation requirements and timelines differ significantly between F-1 OPT, TN, and H-2B.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Executive Chef roles
Sodexo posts Executive Chef positions across hundreds of locations, and not all are open to sponsored candidates. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at Sodexo that accept visa sponsorship, so you're not wasting applications on ineligible postings.
Prepare your employment verification documents before an offer
Sodexo participates in E-Verify, so have your work authorization documents ready before onboarding begins. Delays in producing acceptable documents can jeopardize your start date, even after a written offer has been extended.
Understand TN visa limitations for Canadian and Mexican applicants
If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, Sodexo can sponsor a TN visa for qualifying culinary roles without a DOL labor condition application. Confirm your specific job title maps to an approved TN occupation category before accepting an offer structured around this pathway.

Find Executive Chef at Sodexo JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Sodexo sponsor H-1B visas for Executive Chefs?
Sodexo does not consistently use the H-1B for Executive Chef roles. The H-1B requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, and culinary roles face additional scrutiny under that standard. Sodexo more commonly uses F-1 OPT, TN, and J-1 pathways for international culinary hires, depending on the candidate's nationality and current visa status.
How do I apply for Executive Chef jobs at Sodexo?
Applications go through Sodexo's careers portal, where you can filter by job title and location. Because Sodexo manages contracts across hundreds of sites, openings are listed under specific facility names rather than a central culinary division. Migrate Mate surfaces Sodexo's Executive Chef postings that are open to sponsored candidates, so you can target the right roles from the start.
Which visa types does Sodexo commonly use for Executive Chef roles?
Sodexo has sponsored Executive Chefs under F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, TN, and H-2B categories. F-1 OPT is the most common pathway for recent culinary school graduates already in the U.S. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. H-2B is used for seasonal or temporary culinary positions, which makes it less suited for permanent Executive Chef placements.
What qualifications does Sodexo expect for Executive Chef candidates?
Sodexo typically expects a culinary degree or formal culinary training alongside demonstrated kitchen management experience. For sponsored candidates, the credentials need to map clearly to the visa category being used. Roles in healthcare and institutional dining also require familiarity with large-scale production, dietary compliance, and team supervision rather than fine dining or restaurant backgrounds.
How do I time my application around visa and offer deadlines?
F-1 OPT authorization can take up to 90 days to process through USCIS, so you should apply for OPT well before your program ends. If you're approaching the end of OPT, confirm whether Sodexo can support a STEM extension or an alternative pathway before accepting an offer. Starting that conversation during the interview stage prevents last-minute complications once an offer is extended.
