Target Departments With Ongoing Recruitment Cycles
University of Arizona's health sciences units recruit Medical Doctors across clinical and academic tracks on a rolling basis. Focusing on departments like internal medicine, psychiatry, or family medicine increases your chances of finding a role with active sponsorship intent.
Clarify J-1 Waiver Options During Offer Negotiations
Many academic medical centers use J-1 for physician trainees who then need a waiver before transitioning to H-1B employment. Ask the hiring department upfront whether they support Conrad 30 or Interested Government Agency waivers, since this directly affects your timeline to full clinical work authorization.
Understand the PERM Timeline for Physician Green Cards
If you're targeting EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, DOL's PERM labor certification can take 12 to 18 months before University of Arizona can file your immigrant petition. Factor this into your long-term planning, especially if you're transitioning off a time-limited visa.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Physician Roles
Medical Doctor positions at University of Arizona are listed across multiple portals and can be hard to track. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for University of Arizona physician openings that include visa sponsorship, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed.
Align Your CV Format to Academic Medicine Standards
University of Arizona hiring committees for Medical Doctor roles expect a full academic CV, not a resume. Include your residency, fellowship, board certifications, publications, and any teaching appointments. A mismatch in format signals unfamiliarity with academic medical hiring norms.

Which visa types does University of Arizona use for Medical Doctor roles?
University of Arizona sponsors multiple visa types for physicians, including H-1B, J-1, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and E-3 for Australian citizens.
