Target faculty and research roles first
University of the Pacific's sponsorship activity is concentrated in academic and research positions. If you have a graduate degree and teaching or research experience, these roles offer the strongest path to H-1B or Green Card support at the university.
Understand the academic hiring calendar
Higher education hiring runs on an academic year cycle. Faculty searches typically open in the fall for positions starting the following academic year, so timing your application early gives you the best chance of aligning with their H-1B cap filing window.
Highlight specialty occupation eligibility clearly
For H-1B sponsorship in a university setting, your role must qualify as a specialty occupation. Make sure your application materials explicitly connect your degree field to the specific duties of the position you're targeting at University of the Pacific.
Ask about Green Card support during negotiations
Universities like University of the Pacific sometimes support EB-2 or EB-3 permanent residency for long-term hires. Raise the question respectfully during the offer stage, especially for tenure-track faculty or senior administrative roles with a long-term outlook.
Look for roles across all three campuses
University of the Pacific operates across multiple locations, including Stockton, Sacramento, and San Francisco. Sponsorship opportunities exist across campuses, so broadening your search beyond a single location increases your chances of finding a sponsored opening.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsorship roles
Not every university posting is open to visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, making it easier to identify University of the Pacific openings where international candidates are genuinely considered.

Roles that require a specific degree field in a specialty occupation are the most likely to receive sponsorship consideration.
What visa types does University of the Pacific sponsor?
University of the Pacific sponsors H-1B visas for skilled workers and has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for qualifying employees. The university also works with F-1 students through OPT and CPT programs and can sponsor TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional roles.
Which departments or roles at University of the Pacific are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Academic departments, research centers, and specialized professional schools at University of the Pacific account for the majority of sponsored roles. Faculty positions, postdoctoral researchers, and senior staff in areas like health sciences, engineering, and business are among the most common sponsored categories. How do I find open jobs at University of the Pacific that offer visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to search directly on Migrate Mate, which aggregates roles from verified sponsoring employers and lets you filter by sponsorship type and history. When reviewing University of the Pacific postings, look for explicit mention of sponsorship availability, or contact the hiring department directly to confirm before investing time in a full application.
How do I time my application to University of the Pacific around the H-1B cap?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date, and registration opens in March. For a university role, you ideally want a job offer confirmed by February at the latest. Faculty searches often conclude in winter or early spring, so applying to open positions in the fall gives you the best chance of meeting that timeline.
