Compliance Investigator Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a compliance investigator in Texas?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, business, finance, or law, followed by an entry-level compliance or regulatory role at a Texas state agency, financial institution, or large corporation. Texas does not require a state-issued license specifically for compliance investigators, but earning the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) credential through the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics significantly strengthens applications. Candidates pursuing public-sector roles often start with the Texas State Auditor's Office or agencies such as the Texas Department of Insurance.
How much do compliance investigators make in Texas?
Compliance investigators in Texas earn a median of about $75,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,170 for the lowest 10% to over $126,920 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire compliance investigators in Texas?
Employers hiring compliance investigators in Texas right now include Morgan Stanley, Texas Health and Human Services Commission, and Harris County, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of financial services firms, energy companies, and large health systems means steady, ongoing demand for compliance talent across the private and public sectors.
Which Texas cities have the most compliance investigator jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin have the most compliance investigator openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense concentration of energy corporations, financial institutions, and medical center organizations, while Dallas and Austin draw demand from major bank operations, technology firms, and state government regulatory bodies headquartered in those metros.
Are there remote compliance investigator jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many other investigative roles, because compliance review and case analysis work is largely desk-based and document-driven. About 24% of compliance investigator openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the analytical nature of the work. Positions focused on financial crimes review, policy auditing, and third-party vendor compliance tend to be the most consistently remote.
How can I get hired as a compliance investigator in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a lateral move from a related role such as paralegal, auditor, loan officer, or claims analyst, which demonstrates investigative thinking and regulatory exposure without requiring a formal compliance title. Large Texas employers including JPMorgan Chase's San Antonio and Houston operations and Texas Health Resources run compliance associate programs that onboard candidates without direct investigation experience. Earning a CCEP certificate or completing a paralegal or audit course at a Texas community college gives early-career applicants a concrete credential to cite when applying.
Where can I find and apply to compliance investigator jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to compliance investigator jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
