Position Scope
The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating project execution, managing project documentation, tracking costs and schedules, and ensuring effective communication between field operations, project management, clients, and stakeholders. This role plays a key part in delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to company quality standards.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate project activities with field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders
- Track project progress, production, and budget performance
- Report project status, forecasts, and budget updates to executive leadership
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, owners, engineers, and project stakeholders
- Represent the company at client meetings, job walks, and project reviews
- Prepare monthly billings and manage change order documentation and processing
- Review and process subcontractor pay applications and supplier invoices
- Identify, track, and manage critical path activities and project milestones
- Procure long-lead materials, equipment, and subcontracted services
- Resolve project issues involving field operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
- Manage document control, contract documents, RFIs, submittals, and project correspondence
- Monitor quality control and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards
- Oversee project safety and environmental compliance requirements
- Conduct site visits and field inspections as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education and Work Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in civil construction
- Experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or Project Manager preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced construction environment
- Valid driver's license required
Work Environment
- Based out of Ti-Zack office (choice of office location in St. Michael, MN or Le Center, MN)
- Projects located throughout the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota
- Occasional travel to Eastern North Dakota project sites
- Combination of office and field work
