Annette English + Associates (“AE+A”) is a Los Angeles interior design studio with 25+ years of creating spaces that endure. We’re looking for an experienced operator — a builder of systems and a steward of teams — to run the operational engine of our boutique firm and lead procurement across luxury residential projects. Whether your background is rooted in design, or you’re a strong cross-functional operator from another industry ready to bring that discipline to our, we want to hear from you. This role sits at the heart of everything we do.
Reports to Principal & Partner, FLSA Exempt, 5+ years of experience, 4-days in office and 1 day remote, Los Angeles, CA
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a dual mandate: run the operational engine of a boutique firm — owning HR, finance, and operational systems — and lead FF&E procurement across a portfolio of luxury residential projects. You'll report directly to the Principal and Partners and work across every department — equal parts strategist, builder, and executor.
OPERATIONS — WHAT YOU'LL OWN
01 Design and continuously refine company-wide SOPs — building out an office playbook and optimizing Asana automations that make the studio run without friction.
02 Lead human resources operations — payroll, onboarding, benefits, performance management, time tracking, and serving as the go-to liaison between staff and leadership.
03Oversee financial administration — monthly billing reviews, client payment processing, project allowance tracking, and partnering with accounting on reconciliations.
04 Keep the firm resourced and staffed — maintain quarterly staffing sheets, project timelines, and assist in drafting proposals and contract addenda.
05 Manage company-wide renewals — insurance, benefits packages, and software agreements — proactively, so nothing lapses.
06 Cultivate vendor and contractor relationships and keep weekly staff and executive meetings focused, prepared, and actionable.
PROCUREMENT — WHAT YOU'LL OWN
01Lead full-cycle FF&E procurement across multiple concurrent projects — from proposals and purchase orders through to final delivery and installation.
02Own project logistics end-to-end: expediting, inventory management, warehouse coordination, and weekly status reporting to keep every stakeholder informed.
03 Manage project financials in close partnership with the design team — budgets, fund requests, markup tracking, account transfers, and invoicing.
04 Maintain rigorous financial records: weekly bank reconciliation reviews and monthly audits of WIP, client deposit, and vendor deposit reports.
05 Keep Asana procurement and expediting boards current, and communicate progress clearly so the whole team always knows where every order stands.
WHO YOU ARE — REQUIRED
— Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, operations, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience
— 5+ years in operations, finance, or procurement leadership, ideally including full-cycle vendor management and supply chain or logistics oversight

— Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with Asana or similar project management tools (Design Manager experience a plus — training provided)
— High-level budgeting, forecasting, and financial reconciliation skills
— Full-cycle HR/people operations experience: payroll, benefits, performance management, and employee relations
— Exceptional written, verbal, and organizational communication skills
WHO YOU ARE — PREFERRED
— Background in a boutique interior design firm a plus

COO Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a coo job in Los Angeles?
The strongest path into a coo role in Los Angeles runs through the city's entertainment, technology, and healthcare sectors, where growing studios, startups, and hospital networks regularly promote from senior VP and director-level operations roles. Candidates with experience scaling teams in West LA or the South Bay tech corridor tend to stand out, and executive networks built through local industry associations give applicants a measurable edge over remote applicants.
Which companies hire coos in Los Angeles?
Employers hiring coos in Los Angeles right now include TikTok, Whatnot, and WelbeHealth, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Los Angeles draws a wide range of employer types, from major studios and streaming platforms in Burbank and Culver City to venture-backed startups in Santa Monica and established healthcare systems across the metro.
Are there remote coo jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though remote availability is limited given how much of the coo role involves on-site leadership and stakeholder management. About 27% of coo openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at technology and media companies headquartered in West Hollywood and Culver City where distributed leadership models are more established.
How can I get a coo job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an operations manager or director of operations role at one of Los Angeles's many mid-size entertainment companies, health tech startups, or logistics firms in the San Fernando Valley. These employers often promote internally from senior operations roles, so building experience managing cross-functional teams locally and developing relationships within LA's dense startup and studio ecosystem is the most direct route toward a coo title.
Which industries hire the most coos in Los Angeles?
The sectors hiring the most coos in Los Angeles are Technology & Software, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Retail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Los Angeles's unique concentration of entertainment production, consumer technology, and large hospital networks creates consistent executive operations demand that sets the city apart from other major metro markets.
