Counselor Jobs in Queens: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a counselor job in Queens?
The strongest hiring in Queens runs through community mental health centers, the public school system, substance use treatment programs, and nonprofit social service agencies concentrated in Jamaica, Flushing, and Long Island City. Candidates who hold a relevant graduate degree, have completed supervised clinical hours at a Queens-based site, and can demonstrate bilingual ability in Spanish, Mandarin, or Korean stand out in this market.
Which companies hire counselors in Queens?
Employers hiring counselors in Queens right now include Nassau Psychology P.C., CHE Behavioral Health Services, and Homeside Rehab, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Queens draws a mix of large hospital systems, borough-wide nonprofit agencies, and independent outpatient clinics, many of which serve culturally diverse populations across the borough.
Are there remote counselor jobs in Queens?
Yes, though counseling is largely a hands-on, client-facing role, so fully remote positions are limited. About 40% of counselor openings tied to Queens are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with telehealth platforms and school-based behavioral health programs offering the most flexibility for remote or hybrid schedules.
How can I get a counselor job in Queens with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Queens is a paid or stipended internship with a community mental health center or a city-contracted nonprofit, where supervised hours count toward licensure. Queens employers such as settlement houses, youth development programs, and borough-based Head Start centers regularly hire case management associates and counselor aides who are still completing their degree or accumulating supervised hours.
Which industries hire the most counselors in Queens?
Most counselor openings in Queens sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Queens's large, linguistically diverse population drives sustained demand across school systems, community health organizations, and publicly funded substance use and mental health programs throughout the borough.
