CPT Client Partner Jobs
Client Partner roles sit at the intersection of client management and business development, making them a strong fit for CPT if your program covers marketing, communications, or business strategy. Your DSO must authorize CPT before your start date, and the work must directly fulfill a curricular requirement, not just supplement your studies.

Get Access To All JobsClient Partner CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Client Partner role qualify for CPT authorization?
It qualifies if the position directly relates to your field of study and your school has formally integrated work experience into the curriculum. Client Partner roles typically require skills in client strategy, account management, and business development. If your degree program covers those areas, your DSO can authorize CPT. The role description in your offer letter must make that connection explicit.
Can I do full-time CPT as a Client Partner without losing OPT eligibility?
You can, but full-time CPT lasting 12 months or more permanently eliminates your OPT eligibility, including STEM OPT. Part-time CPT, meaning under 20 hours per week, has no impact on OPT. If you plan to use OPT after graduation, work with your DSO to structure your Client Partner engagement as part-time or limit full-time CPT to fewer than 12 cumulative months.
How do I find Client Partner employers who understand CPT requirements?
Start with Migrate Mate, which filters employers by sponsorship history and visa-authorization familiarity. Client Partner positions at mid-size to enterprise companies in technology, consulting, and media tend to have HR teams experienced with F-1 work authorization. Smaller agencies may offer the role but lack the internal infrastructure to process CPT paperwork correctly or on time.
What should my offer letter include for DSO approval of a Client Partner CPT?
Your DSO needs the employer name, the job title, your start and end dates, the number of hours per week, and a description of duties that maps to your coursework. For a Client Partner role, that means the letter should name specific responsibilities such as managing client accounts, developing strategic proposals, or leading client communications. A letter that only states the job title is rarely sufficient for DSO sign-off.
Can I switch from one Client Partner CPT employer to another mid-semester?
Yes, but each employer requires a separate CPT authorization from your DSO. You cannot begin work with a new employer on your existing CPT authorization. The switch requires a new offer letter, a new curricular justification, and a new I-20 reflecting the updated CPT. Plan for at least one to two weeks of processing time before your intended start date with the new employer.
