CPT Recruiter Jobs
Recruiter roles sit at the intersection of human resources, business development, and workforce strategy, making them a strong CPT match for students in HR management, industrial-organizational psychology, or business programs. Your DSO must authorize CPT before you start, and the work must connect directly to your degree curriculum.

Get Access To All JobsRecruiter CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a recruiter role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if your degree program directly covers talent acquisition, HR management, or organizational behavior and your school's DSO confirms the connection. Generic business degrees sometimes require additional documentation showing the role integrates with your curriculum. Programs in industrial-organizational psychology, HR management, or workforce development align most cleanly with recruiter CPT authorizations.
Can I do CPT at a staffing agency as a recruiter?
Yes, staffing agencies are among the more CPT-accessible employers for recruiter roles because they regularly hire interns and co-ops. Your I-20 will list the agency as the employer of record. Confirm the work location and job duties match what the agency submits to your DSO, since discrepancies can trigger compliance questions with USCIS later.
How do I find recruiter roles where employers understand CPT?
Browse Migrate Mate to identify employers with work authorization filing history, which signals familiarity with student visa structures. When you reach HR, ask directly whether they've hired F-1 students on CPT before. Employers who've done it before will already have an I-9 process for EAD-based authorization and won't require you to educate them from scratch.
Does CPT as a recruiter affect my OPT or H-1B eligibility?
Full-time CPT for 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely, so track your cumulative CPT hours carefully with your DSO. Part-time CPT, regardless of duration, doesn't affect OPT. For H-1B visa purposes, recruiter roles need to meet the specialty occupation standard, which requires a directly related degree field rather than any bachelor's degree.
What documents does my employer need to hire me on CPT as a recruiter?
Your employer needs your updated I-20 with CPT authorization, your F-1 visa, your passport, and your I-94 arrival record for I-9 completion. The CPT authorization on your I-20 functions as your EAD equivalent. Your employer does not file anything with USCIS for CPT. Make sure your I-20 start date matches your first day of work exactly, since a mismatch is an I-9 violation.
