Get Access To All JobsWellness Manager CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Wellness Manager role qualify as an integral part of my curriculum for CPT?
CPT eligibility depends on your program of study, not the job title alone. A Wellness Manager role qualifies if it applies coursework from programs like public health, health administration, or kinesiology. Your DSO makes the final determination by matching specific duties in the job description to courses listed on your degree plan.
Can I do CPT as a Wellness Manager if my degree is in a related but not identical field?
Yes, if you can draw a direct line between the job duties and your coursework. A student in an MBA program with a healthcare concentration, for example, can support a Wellness Manager CPT authorization by mapping program design and vendor management duties to specific business and health policy courses. Bring a written justification to your DSO.
How do I find Wellness Manager employers who understand CPT work authorization?
Search Migrate Mate for Wellness Manager roles filtered by employers with a history of sponsoring international students. Larger employers in healthcare systems, insurance carriers, and university HR departments tend to have structured onboarding processes that accommodate CPT documentation requirements, including Form I-9 completion and E-Verify enrollment.
Will part-time CPT as a Wellness Manager affect my full-time CPT eligibility later?
Part-time CPT, defined as 20 hours per week or fewer, does not affect your OPT eligibility regardless of how much you use. Full-time CPT totaling 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. If you plan to use OPT after graduation, stay within part-time CPT hours throughout your program.
What happens to my CPT authorization if the employer changes my job title or duties after I start?
Your CPT authorization is tied to the specific employer and position your DSO approved on your I-20. If duties change materially, you may need a new CPT authorization before continuing. Notify your DSO promptly if your role shifts from program management toward general administrative work, since that could break the curriculum alignment USCIS and your school require.
