Data Entry Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data entry in California?
Most data entry roles in California require a high school diploma and demonstrated typing accuracy, with no state-issued license. Employers in healthcare settings often expect familiarity with electronic health record systems, and some medical data entry positions ask for a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant credential. Community colleges throughout California, including those in the Los Angeles and Bay Area systems, offer certificate programs in office technology and health information that prepare candidates for these roles.
Which companies hire data entrys in California?
Companies currently hiring data entrys in California include PathLab Services, JY Designs and Creations, and CHN, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's large healthcare networks, financial institutions, and logistics operations consistently post data entry openings year-round across the state.
Which California cities have the most data entry jobs?
Los Angeles, Corona, and Fresno have the most data entry openings in California. Los Angeles drives volume through its concentration of healthcare systems, entertainment back-office operations, and financial services, while San Francisco and San Diego reflect demand from tech companies, biotech firms, and large regional employers anchored in those metros.
Are there remote data entry jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields, because data entry work is largely computer-based and does not require a physical presence. About 3% of data entry openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how easily the core duties transfer off-site. Financial data processing and administrative data roles tend to have the highest share of fully remote positions.

Completing a medical or business office certificate at a California community college gives candidates a clear edge over other applicants with no prior experience.
