Data Entry Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data entry in California?
A high school diploma is the standard minimum requirement to work in data entry in California, and no state-issued license is required. Most California employers expect proficiency in spreadsheet software and a demonstrated typing speed, which candidates often verify through employer-administered assessments. Completing a community college certificate in office administration or medical billing, available at institutions like Los Angeles City College or Sacramento City College, can strengthen your application considerably.
Which companies hire data entrys in California?
Employers hiring data entrys in California right now include Accelerated Global Solutions, Etched, and GSI Environmental, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's large healthcare networks, state government agencies, and financial institutions tend to post the most consistent volume of data entry openings year-round.
Which California cities have the most data entry jobs?
Emeryville, Los Angeles, and San Jose have the most data entry openings in California. Los Angeles leads due to its concentration of healthcare systems, entertainment industry back-office operations, and large financial firms, while Sacramento's hiring is driven heavily by state government agencies and health insurance administrators that maintain significant operations in the capital region.
Are there remote data entry jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. Data entry is one of the more remote-compatible roles in the job market by nature, since the work is screen-based and output is easily tracked digitally. About 50% of data entry openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting strong employer acceptance of distributed work for this role. Medical coding, financial data processing, and insurance claims entry tend to have the highest share of fully remote positions.
How can I get hired as a data entry in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for administrative assistant or records clerk roles at California's large healthcare networks or county government offices, where volume is high and on-the-job training is common. Kaiser Permanente, Dignity Health, and California county agencies regularly bring in candidates without direct data entry experience through clerical and medical records associate programs. Completing a free or low-cost typing and spreadsheet certification through a California community college adds a concrete credential that moves your application past the screening stage.
Where can I find and apply to data entry jobs in California?
You can find and apply to data entry jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employers posting them.
