Most director of fp a roles in Delaware require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with an MBA or CPA providing a meaningful edge in the state's competitive corporate market. Delaware does not issue a state-specific license for FP&A professionals, so the hiring path focuses on progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, ideally within the financial services, pharmaceutical, or holding company sectors that dominate Delaware's corporate base.
Which companies hire director of fp as in Delaware?
Employers hiring director of fp as in Delaware right now include Solenis, Qnity, and CVS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The cities with the most director of fp a openings in Delaware are Wilmington and Delaware. Wilmington drives the majority of postings given its dense concentration of financial institutions, corporate legal headquarters, and regional offices for major banks, while Newark and Dover contribute openings tied to university-adjacent employers and state government-related organizations.

Strategic planning, long-range modeling, and variance analysis are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.

The most realistic entry path is building experience in financial analysis or corporate accounting roles at Delaware employers before moving into FP&A leadership. Large employers in Wilmington's financial services corridor and Newark's pharmaceutical and biotech sector regularly hire financial analysts and senior analysts as the pipeline into planning functions. Earning a CPA or completing an MBA from the University of Delaware or Wilmington University strengthens a candidacy significantly, and lateral moves from corporate accounting or investor relations are common routes into FP&A at the director level.
