E-3 Visa Automation Jobs
Automation engineers and specialists are strong E-3 visa candidates because the role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Australian professionals can secure sponsorship without competing in the H-1B lottery, and the E-3 renews indefinitely as long as you hold a qualifying position.

Company Description
It started with a simple idea: what if surgery could be less invasive and recovery less painful? Nearly 30 years later, that question still fuels everything we do at Intuitive. As a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, our technologies—like the da Vinci surgical system and Ion—have transformed how care is delivered for millions of patients worldwide.
We’re a team of engineers, clinicians, and innovators united by one purpose: to make surgery smarter, safer, and more human. Every day, our work helps care teams perform with greater precision and patients recover faster, improving outcomes around the world.
The problems we solve demand creativity, rigor, and collaboration. The work is challenging, but deeply meaningful—because every improvement we make has the potential to change a life.
If you’re ready to contribute to something bigger than yourself and help transform the future of healthcare, you’ll find your purpose here.

- Develop, execute, and maintain robust automated test suites.
- Collaborate closely with developers, UI/UX designers, and other software test team members, driving continuous improvements in our testing processes and results.
- Influence and negotiate with software developers to deliver important interfaces between test automation and product software.
- Develop requirement/specifications and perform validation for test automation tools.
- Identify, report, and help resolve defects and inconsistencies with the tests/framework.
- Support formal Verification and Validation activities (perform test execution, write reports, verify JIRA tickets).
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to code reviews and support automation best practices within the team.
- Prepare and maintain test documentation, including status reports and metrics on automation efforts.
- Mentor other team members to build automation expertise within the team.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Automation
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian engineering or computer science degree satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation requirement, but your resume should explicitly state your qualification level and field. U.S. hiring managers often assume four-year degrees are the baseline and may flag yours without context.
Target manufacturers and industrial tech firms first
Automation roles in automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, and robotics manufacturing require deep specialist knowledge, making them strong E-3 fits. These industries hire for PLC programming, SCADA systems, and process control, which map cleanly to a specialty occupation determination.
Verify your employer will file the LCA before accepting
The LCA is an employer obligation filed with DOL before your visa application proceeds. Some smaller manufacturers and integrators are unfamiliar with E-3 and confuse it with H-1B. Confirm they'll certify the LCA independently of your visa appointment timeline.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for technical paperwork
Automation roles often involve complex job duty descriptions that need to meet DOL's specialty occupation standard precisely. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA certification, visa documentation, and consulate preparation so technical gaps in your application don't stall the process.
Address automation-specific H-1B misconceptions in interviews
Many U.S. engineering managers assume all work visa sponsorship requires H-1B lottery entry. You can clarify directly that E-3 has a separate 10,500-annual allocation, no lottery, and a faster consulate-based process, which removes a common objection before it derails an offer.
Bring original LCA certification to your consulate appointment
Consular officers reviewing E-3 applications for automation roles will scrutinize whether the LCA wage level matches your offered position. Bring your original certified LCA and the employer's supporting documentation showing your job duties align with the prevailing wage determination on file.

Find Automation JobsAutomation E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Automation jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Automation roles where employers are already open to E-3 sponsorship. Because the E-3 is Australian-specific and less familiar to many U.S. employers than the H-1B, filtering for sponsorship-ready companies before you apply saves significant time and avoids offers that stall at the visa stage.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Automation role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Automation engineer, controls engineer, and automation specialist roles typically qualify because they require a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science. Roles where any engineering degree would satisfy the requirement can create ambiguity, so your job duties and the employer's LCA description need to clearly reflect a degree-specific requirement to pass DOL review.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Automation professionals?
For Australians in Automation, the E-3 is significantly more practical than the H-1B. There's no lottery, the 10,500 annual cap has never been fully used, and you apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Australia rather than waiting for USCIS petition processing. H-1B registration opens once per year in March, meaning a missed lottery puts you on hold for 12 months, whereas E-3 appointments can be scheduled as soon as your employer certifies the LCA.
Can I change Automation employers after arriving on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but the process restarts with your new employer. The new company must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to attend a new consulate interview or pursue a change of status if you're already in the U.S. There's no portability rule like some other visa categories, so you should confirm your new employer is prepared to move through the LCA and visa steps before you give notice.
