Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Billing Specialist
Match your degree to the role
Billing Specialist positions must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning the employer's job requirements must list a specific bachelor's degree field. A degree in accounting, finance, or business administration typically satisfies this. A general degree unrelated to billing may draw scrutiny at the consulate.
Target healthcare and SaaS employers
Healthcare networks and SaaS companies hire Billing Specialists at volume and are familiar with E-3 visa sponsorship requirements. These industries file LCAs regularly, so their HR teams are less likely to be caught off guard by the process.
Get your LCA filed before resigning
Your employer must file the Labor Condition Application with the DOL before you can apply for your E-3 visa. Confirm LCA certification is underway before giving notice at your current job. Standard LCA processing runs around seven business days.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for clean execution
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This avoids the common missteps that slow down billing roles, like mismatched prevailing wage levels or incomplete specialty occupation documentation.
Verify employer E-Verify enrollment early
Some billing roles sit within staffing arrangements or shared-services structures where the legal employer may differ from your day-to-day workplace. Confirm which entity will sign your LCA and whether that entity is enrolled in E-Verify, as this affects your work authorization timeline.
Clarify your Australian credentials upfront
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes. Bring your academic transcripts and, if your degree title is unfamiliar to U.S. hiring managers, a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization can prevent delays at the consulate.
E-3 Visa Billing Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Billing Specialist jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3 sponsorship roles in the U.S. Standard job boards don't filter by visa type, so you end up applying to employers who won't sponsor. Migrate Mate surfaces Billing Specialist positions at employers with a demonstrated history of filing LCAs and sponsoring E-3 workers.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Billing Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is written. If the job description requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a directly related field, it will typically qualify. Roles that list a degree as preferred rather than required, or accept any bachelor's degree, are more likely to be challenged. Ask your employer to confirm the degree requirement is stated as mandatory in the job posting and offer letter.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Billing Specialist positions?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but it has a significant structural advantage: no lottery. H-1B visa registration enters a random selection process, meaning you might not get selected even with a valid offer. The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been exhausted, so a qualified Billing Specialist with an employer willing to sponsor can proceed directly to filing without waiting for a lottery outcome.
Can I change Billing Specialist employers while on an E-3?
Yes, but you need to restart the process with the new employer. Your E-3 status is tied to your specific employer and LCA. The new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. if your current stamp has expired. Plan for at least a few weeks of processing time when making a job change.
