Translate your Australian credentials accurately
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree satisfies the E-3 visa degree requirement. Get a credential evaluation confirming equivalency to a U.S. four-year degree before you apply, so employers don't raise objections during the offer stage.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify companies that have filed LCAs for business development roles. Prior filings signal the employer already understands the E-3 sponsorship process and won't back out over paperwork.
Find E-3 roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to search Business Development Executive roles filtered by E-3 visa sponsorship. The platform surfaces employers with active sponsorship history so you're applying where it already makes practical sense.
Frame your offer letter to satisfy specialty occupation
Ask your employer to specify that the role requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, not just that a degree is preferred. This distinction matters at the consulate: 'preferred' language can trigger a 221(g) refusal for specialty occupation.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, the LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA submission through consulate preparation, removing the administrative burden from both you and your employer.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at interview
Consular officers will probe your ties to Australia and long-term intentions. Have concrete answers ready: ongoing family connections, property, or professional relationships back home all support your nonimmigrant intent as an E-3 applicant.
E-3 Visa Business Development Executive: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Business Development Executive jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter Business Development Executive positions by employers who have demonstrated sponsorship willingness, which saves time compared to cold-applying and discovering the employer won't file an LCA mid-process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Business Development Executive role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. If the position requires a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, international relations, or a related field as a minimum entry requirement, it can qualify as a specialty occupation. Roles described as general sales or account management without a specific degree requirement are harder to support. Your offer letter and job description need to clearly establish the degree connection.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Business Development Executive roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery, so your employer can sponsor you any time of year without the uncertainty of a random selection process. H-1B visa petitions for the same role go through a lottery with limited slots each fiscal year, meaning qualified candidates are often rejected before anyone reviews their credentials. The E-3 also processes at the consulate in Australia rather than through USCIS, which is typically faster.
Can I switch Business Development roles or employers while on an E-3?
Yes, but you can't start the new job until the new employer's LCA is certified by DOL and you either obtain a new E-3 visa stamp or, if you're already in the U.S., file a change of employer through USCIS. There's no portability rule like AC21 for green card holders, so timing matters. Overlapping your transition incorrectly can create a status gap.
