Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Business Development Manager
Frame your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree satisfies the E-3 visa specialty occupation requirement. Make sure your resume translates revenue figures to USD and clarifies that your qualification is equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, since hiring managers often don't know this.
Target companies with existing LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for Business Development Manager LCA filings. Employers who've filed before understand the process and are far less likely to withdraw an offer when legal paperwork begins.
Address sponsorship early in the interview process
Raise the E-3 during your second interview, not after the offer. Explain that the E-3 requires no lottery and carries minimal employer cost compared to H-1B visa. Most rejections happen because employers assume sponsorship is complex before anyone corrects that assumption.
Confirm your role meets specialty occupation criteria
The E-3 requires that the position normally demands a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Generic BD roles described as requiring 'any degree' can fail this test. Ask the hiring manager to confirm the job description specifies a business, marketing, or related field requirement before you proceed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment, and sequencing these steps correctly avoids costly delays.
Plan your consulate appointment around your start date
E-3 consulate appointments at Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth typically have different wait times. Book your appointment immediately after the LCA is certified, not after your I-129 is approved, since the consulate processes E-3 applications directly without requiring a separate USCIS petition.
E-3 Visa Business Development Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Business Development Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Business Development Manager roles at employers who sponsor the E-3 visa, so you're not sorting through listings that will never lead to sponsorship. Filtering by E-3 history saves significant time and connects you with hiring managers who already understand the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Business Development Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, marketing, international business, or a related discipline. The role must be defined that way in the actual job description. Titles like 'Business Development Manager' that list 'any degree accepted' can fail the specialty occupation test, so review the posting carefully before applying.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Business Development Manager roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap, so you can start the sponsorship process any time of year. H-1B registrations open once per year in March and selection is random. For Business Development Manager roles, which are high-demand and competitive to place in H-1B, the E-3's year-round availability is a significant practical advantage for both you and your employer.
Can I change employers or get promoted while on an E-3?
You can change employers, but the new employer must file a new LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if yours was issued for the previous employer. A promotion within the same company to a substantially different role also requires a new LCA. Plan for a gap of several weeks between accepting a new offer and starting, to allow time for LCA certification and consulate scheduling.
