Pre Sales Consultant roles in the U.S. sit squarely within the E-3 visa's specialty occupation definition, typically supported by degrees in business, marketing, or engineering. Frame your LCA job title precisely
The job title on your Labor Condition Application must align with a recognised DOL occupational category. 'Pre Sales Consultant' often maps to Sales Engineer or Sales Representative, Technical, so confirm the SOC code with your employer before the LCA is filed.
Target companies with existing LCA history
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway (FLAG) disclosure data for employers who have previously filed LCAs for pre-sales or solutions consulting roles. Prior filings signal that the company's legal team already understands the E-3 visa process.
Translate your Australian degree for U.S. recruiters
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 specialty occupation purposes, but your resume should explicitly state your degree field and how it connects to the pre-sales technical scope of the role.
Get a written offer before the LCA is filed
Your employer cannot submit the LCA to DOL until you have a formal job offer with a defined role, location, and salary. A verbal offer won't move the process forward, so request a written offer letter before expecting any filing action from HR.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Pre-sales roles often span multiple office locations or remote work arrangements, which can complicate LCA filings. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the LCA, DS-160, and consulate preparation so location-specific compliance issues don't stall your start date.
Address nonimmigrant intent at your consulate interview
Consular officers assess whether you intend to return to Australia after your E-3 status ends. Having concrete ties to Australia, such as property, family, or professional networks, strengthens your case alongside a clearly temporary U.S. assignment scope.
E-3 Visa Pre Sales Consultant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Pre Sales Consultant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and industry to surface employers who are already familiar with the E-3 process, which avoids the time spent educating HR teams about a visa they've never encountered.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Pre Sales Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. The E-3 requires the position to normally demand a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. Pre Sales Consultant roles at enterprise software, SaaS, or technical product companies typically require degrees in engineering, computer science, or business, which satisfies the specialty occupation definition. Roles where any degree field is accepted can be harder to support.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Pre Sales Consultant roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap for Australians, so your employer can file at any point in the year and expect a decision without waiting for a random selection outcome. The H-1B visa cap is 85,000 per year with a lottery that typically runs once annually, meaning a pre-sales role offer in June would require a wait of nearly a year before you could start on H-1B status.
Can I switch Pre Sales Consultant employers while on an E-3?
You can change employers, but you cannot start the new role until your new employer files a certified LCA and you obtain a new E-3 visa stamp or, if you're already in the U.S., until the new LCA is in place. The E-3 is employer-specific, so a new offer does not automatically transfer your existing status to the incoming company.
