Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Business Planning Manager
Frame your credentials for U.S. specialty occupation
An Australian three-year business degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but document the equivalency explicitly. Include your degree transcripts and a credential evaluation when applying to roles that require a bachelor's in business, finance, or economics.
Target employers with active LCA filing histories
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have previously certified LCAs for business planning or strategy roles. Past filings signal that the employer's HR and legal teams already understand the E-3 visa process.
Clarify your visa status before the offer stage
Many U.S. employers confuse the E-3 with the H-1B lottery. Proactively explain that the E-3 requires no lottery entry, no USCIS petition, and can be approved at the consulate within weeks of a certified LCA, removing the timeline objections that kill sponsorship conversations.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA step
The LCA is the employer's responsibility and the step most likely to stall a small or mid-size company unfamiliar with DOL filings. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so your employer doesn't need to coordinate separate immigration counsel.
Request a job offer letter that names your specific role
Your DS-160 and consular interview require a detailed offer letter that specifies your title, duties, and that a bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. A vague letter listing 'manager' without degree requirements can raise specialty occupation questions at the consulate.
Renew your E-3 before your I-94 expires, not your visa stamp
Your I-94 admission record controls your legal stay, not the visa stamp validity. Business Planning Managers who remain in the same role can renew at a U.S. consulate in Australia or a third country, typically without starting a new LCA if the employer and position haven't changed.
E-3 Visa Business Planning Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Business Planning Manager jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended way to search for Business Planning Manager roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Standard job boards rarely filter by visa type, so you can spend weeks applying to roles where sponsorship was never on the table. Migrate Mate surfaces roles matched to E-3 eligibility, saving that time.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Business Planning Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, finance, economics, or a related discipline. Roles where the employer would accept any degree or where the duties are primarily operational rather than analytical are more likely to face scrutiny at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Business Planning Manager positions?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for this role. There's no lottery, no annual cap, and no USCIS petition required. Once your employer files and receives a certified LCA from the DOL, you can apply directly at a U.S. consulate. H-1B applicants for the same role must enter a random lottery and wait up to a year if selected.
Can I change employers while working as a Business Planning Manager on an E-3?
Yes, but your E-3 status is tied to a specific employer and role. If you move to a new company or your title and duties change substantially, your new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll typically need a new consular appointment. You should not start working for the new employer until the new LCA is certified and your visa reflects the change.
