Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Project Development Manager
Frame your credentials for U.S. specialty occupation
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but your employer's LCA filing needs to tie your specific degree field to the Project Development Manager role. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before interviews.
Target employers with active infrastructure pipelines
Project Development Manager roles with E-3 sponsorship concentrate in sectors with multi-year project backlogs: energy, transport, and commercial real estate. Search for companies currently in pre-construction or permitting phases, they're staffing now and need the role filled before groundbreaking, not after.
Clarify the specialty occupation case early
USCIS scrutinizes Project Development Manager positions because the title can cover roles that don't require a specific degree. Before accepting an offer, confirm your employer can document that the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a directly related field.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your visa appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle the LCA and all downstream paperwork, delays at this step are the most common reason offer timelines slip.
Negotiate employer-paid government fees upfront
The E-3 doesn't carry the same cost burden as an H-1B, but your employer still covers the LCA filing and any attorney costs. Raise this during offer negotiation, not after signing, most U.S. project-sector employers expect it and the ask is standard practice.
Prepare a dual-intent strategy for renewal interviews
Project development work often leads to long-term U.S. roles, and consular officers notice. Document your nonimmigrant intent clearly for each renewal interview, especially if your project scope has expanded or your employer has discussed permanent pathways.

Find Project Development Manager JobsProject Development Manager E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Project Development Manager jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, it filters roles by E-3 visa sponsorship eligibility so you're not manually screening job listings for willingness to sponsor. Project Development Manager roles that qualify tend to appear in construction, energy, and infrastructure sectors where Australian qualifications and experience are well recognised by U.S. hiring managers.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Project Development Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but the burden is on your employer to demonstrate it. The role qualifies when the position description requires a specific bachelor's degree, engineering, construction management, urban planning, or business with a project focus. Roles where any bachelor's degree satisfies the requirement, regardless of field, are harder to support. The job duties on the LCA filing need to reflect that specificity.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Project Development Manager roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery, so you can start any time of year rather than waiting for an April selection. It also processes at the consulate in Australia, which is typically faster than domestic H-1B adjudication. The trade-off is exclusivity, only Australian citizens qualify. For project-sector roles where timing to project start dates matters, the E-3's predictable timeline is a practical advantage.
What happens to my E-3 status if my project ends or my employer changes?
Your E-3 is tied to a specific employer and role, so if your project wraps up or you want to move to a new company, you'll need a new LCA and a fresh visa in most cases. You're not automatically out of status the moment employment ends, but you should avoid extended gaps. Lining up your next role before project completion is the cleanest way to manage the transition.
