Translate your SAP credentials for U.S. hiring managers
Australian SAP certifications and project experience map directly to U.S. roles, but your resume needs to reflect U.S. enterprise terminology. Reframe deliverables around S/4HANA migrations, RISE with SAP, and cloud integration platforms that U.S. hiring teams recognize.
Target employers with active SAP implementation programs
Large manufacturers, utilities, and financial services firms running multi-year SAP transformations are your highest-probability targets. These organizations file LCAs regularly and have internal immigration processes already in place, reducing friction when you raise E-3 sponsorship.
Raise E-3 sponsorship before the offer stage
Waiting until you have a written offer to mention visa requirements creates delays. Bring up E-3 sponsorship during the final interview round so the employer's HR or legal team can start the DOL LCA process without losing momentum on your start date.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA and consulate paperwork
The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment, and errors in the job duties or wage classification can trigger delays. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA submission through consulate preparation, so nothing stalls your start date.
Clarify third-party placement arrangements upfront
Many SAP architects are placed at client sites through consulting firms. The E-3 requires the sponsoring employer to be your actual employer of record, not the end client. Confirm with the consulting firm that they will file the LCA and appear as your employer on the visa application.
Verify your E-3 covers the full project scope
If your role shifts from architecture to project management or team leadership during an engagement, the job duties on your LCA must still match your actual work. USCIS can scrutinize roles where technical duties are diluted by management responsibilities at renewal time.
E-3 Visa SAP Technical Architect: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find SAP Technical Architect jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3 sponsorship roles in the U.S. You can filter by job title and visa type to surface SAP Technical Architect positions at employers already familiar with the E-3 process, which cuts down on time spent educating recruiters about your visa status.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an SAP Technical Architect role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes. SAP Technical Architect roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related engineering discipline, which meets the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies to the E-3. The role must require that specific degree, so your offer letter and LCA job duties should reflect the technical complexity of the position.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for SAP Technical Architects?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but it has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any point in the year once you have a job offer and a certified LCA. The H-1B visa is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate, meaning most applicants wait years before getting a slot. For Australians, the E-3 is the faster and more predictable path.
Can I change employers or projects while on an E-3 as an SAP architect?
Yes, but your employer must file a new LCA with DOL and you'll need to apply for a new E-3 visa or obtain a change of status before starting work for the new employer. For consulting-model roles where you move between client engagements, confirm that each new placement still falls under your sponsoring employer's existing LCA scope and wage level.
