Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Cloud Platform Engineer
Translate your AWS or Azure certifications
U.S. hiring managers often conflate certifications with qualifications. Frame your AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications as supplementary to your degree, not a substitute. Your Australian bachelor's in computer science or engineering is what satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation requirement.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify companies that have filed LCAs for cloud or platform engineering roles. Prior LCA filings signal that the employer understands the E-3 process and won't stall at the sponsorship conversation.
Find E-3 sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to search Cloud Platform Engineer roles filtered by E-3 visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end, so you can move from offer acceptance to consulate appointment without managing the filing yourself.
Clarify the job title before the LCA is filed
DOL certifies LCAs against specific SOC job titles and prevailing wage levels. If your offer letter says 'Cloud Platform Engineer' but the employer files the LCA under a different title, it can create a mismatch. Confirm the exact title and wage level before the LCA is submitted.
Request the LCA before resigning your current role
Unlike H-1B visa, the E-3 has no cap or lottery wait, but LCA certification still takes DOL seven business days on average. Don't give notice to your current employer until the LCA is certified and your consulate appointment is booked.
Prepare a specialty occupation justification memo
Consular officers occasionally question whether cloud platform roles genuinely require a degree. Ask your employer to provide a brief memo explaining why the role demands specialized theoretical knowledge, particularly for architecture design, infrastructure automation, or security compliance functions.
E-3 Visa Cloud Platform Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Cloud Platform Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter Cloud Platform Engineer positions by companies that actively support E-3 filings, which saves time compared to cold-applying and discovering mid-process that a company won't sponsor. Standard job boards don't filter by visa type, so you can't easily identify which employers are already set up for E-3.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Cloud Platform Engineer role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes. Cloud Platform Engineer roles require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a closely related field, which meets the DOL and USCIS specialty occupation definition. The role must theoretically and practically require that degree, and cloud platform work, covering infrastructure architecture, DevOps automation, and security compliance, consistently satisfies that standard.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Cloud Platform Engineer roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap backlog for Australians, so you can apply as soon as you have a job offer and a certified LCA. H-1B requires entering a lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate, and if selected, you can't start until October 1. For Cloud Platform Engineers, the E-3 is a direct path with no random selection barrier, and it renews indefinitely in two-year increments.
Can I switch Cloud Platform Engineer employers on an E-3 mid-year?
Yes, but you need a new LCA certified by DOL and a new E-3 visa issued before or at the time you start with the new employer. Unlike H-1B portability, there's no grace period that allows you to begin work with a new employer while the new filing is pending. Plan for a gap of at least two to three weeks between the offer and your start date to allow for LCA certification and consulate scheduling.
