Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Computer Systems Engineer
Align your credentials to U.S. specialty occupation standards
Your Australian bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a related field satisfies the E-3 degree requirement. If your degree is in a different discipline, document how your coursework directly relates to systems engineering work before your interview.
Target employers with active LCA filing histories
Companies that have previously filed Labor Condition Applications through the DOL already understand E-3 sponsorship mechanics. Prioritize roles at employers who can demonstrate prior LCA experience rather than educating a first-time sponsor mid-offer.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This covers DOL certification, consulate preparation, and supporting documents so your employer doesn't carry the filing burden alone.
Clarify remote and hybrid arrangements before the LCA is filed
The LCA must list your primary worksite. If your Computer Systems Engineer role involves multi-site deployments or remote work, confirm the worksite address with your employer before DOL submission to avoid amendment delays after filing.
Negotiate your start date around consulate appointment availability
E-3 visas are issued at Australian consulates, not through USCIS. Appointment wait times at Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth vary by season. Build at least four to six weeks into your start date after offer acceptance to account for scheduling.
Request an amended LCA when your role scope changes
Systems engineering roles frequently expand to include new projects, teams, or locations. A material change in job duties or worksite requires your employer to file an amended LCA with the DOL before those changes take effect.

Find Computer Systems Engineer JobsComputer Systems Engineer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Computer Systems Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Computer Systems Engineer roles at employers willing to sponsor the E-3 visa. Because the E-3 requires employer-filed LCA paperwork, filtering by sponsorship history saves you from applying to roles where the employer has never navigated the process, reducing delays and rejections late in the hiring cycle.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Computer Systems Engineer role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes. Computer Systems Engineer positions qualify as E-3 specialty occupations because they require at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical field. USCIS evaluates the role's duties, not just its title, so your offer letter should clearly describe the technical and analytical nature of the work.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Computer Systems Engineer roles?
The E-3 has no lottery, no annual cap pressure, and can be filed at any time of year, whereas the H-1B has an 85,000-slot annual cap subject to a randomized lottery. For Australian nationals in systems engineering, the E-3 is a direct path to U.S. employment without the uncertainty of a selection process. The E-3 also renews indefinitely in two-year increments with no lifetime limit.
Can I change employers or projects while on an E-3 as a Computer Systems Engineer?
You can change employers, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA and you need a new E-3 visa stamp before starting work, or you must re-enter the U.S. after obtaining the new visa at a consulate. Internal role changes that materially alter your duties or worksite also require an amended LCA from your current employer before the change takes effect.
