E-3 Visa Copywriter Jobs
Copywriter roles in the U.S. qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when they require a relevant bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English, or journalism. The E-3 has no lottery and renews every two years, making it a practical path for Australian copywriters pursuing long-term careers at U.S. agencies, publishers, and in-house creative teams.

About The Team
OpenAI didn’t begin as a traditional company. It began as an idea: that artificial intelligence could be developed in a way that benefits everyone. As a creative team, our role is to help make sure the work behind that idea is understood, as it leaves the lab and meets the world. This company works at the frontier of intelligence. Like any frontier, it’s unfinished, constantly shifting, and still being explored. Our job is to stay close to that uncertainty and help shape how this story gets told, in a way that feels grounded and human. We do this through campaigns, launches, films, brand systems, and work that doesn’t fit neatly into any of those categories yet. This team is for people who want to help shape something from the beginning.
About The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Copywriter to join our growing in-house creative team. In this role, you’ll help define the voice of OpenAI at a moment when the story is still being written. You’ll concept and write across campaigns, product launches, and cultural moments, working closely with design, product, and comms from the start. This role blends systems thinking with world-class craft. You’ll create clear, emotionally resonant copy that helps people understand complex technology and experience it in ways that feel intuitive, useful, and human. You understand how a few words can define an experience, clarify complexity, and make technology feel accessible. To us, creativity is a team sport. Ideas get better when you talk them through and build on each other’s thinking. We value curiosity over certainty, kindness over ego, and the ability to balance craft with decisiveness. This role is based in our San Francisco office. We offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role you will
- Lead and shape storytelling across brand campaigns, product launches, product experiences, and integrated creative work
- Own narrative direction for key initiatives and creative workstreams
- Translate OpenAI’s products, features, and use cases into emotionally resonant, human-centered narratives
- Develop campaign concepts, launch narratives, messaging frameworks, and story arcs that align with brand strategy
- Write across launch moments, product pages, social, CRM, web, onboarding, lifecycle, and other touch points
- Build scalable voice systems that create consistency across channels while preserving craft
- Partner deeply with design, motion, production, product, marketing, comms, engineering, and agency teams to bring ideas to life
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure narrative consistency, clarity, and impact
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with clarity and confidence
- Evolve and steward OpenAI’s voice and tone across channels and experiences
- Present work confidently to senior leadership and provide strategic narrative input into campaign planning and creative development
- Raise the standard of writing craft across the organization, championing simplicity, precision, and obsessive attention to detail
You might thrive in this role if you
- Have 7+ years of experience in copywriting at top-tier in-house brands, creative agencies, or design-led companies
- Are a senior creative storyteller with experience leading narrative strategy for campaigns, launches, and brand initiatives
- Have proven experience writing for product experiences, digital surfaces, lifecycle moments, and major launches
- Have exceptional taste and a portfolio demonstrating clarity, restraint, emotional intelligence, and world-class craft
- Have strong strategic instincts paired with meticulous execution
- Have deep fluency in product storytelling and the ability to simplify complex technology into compelling human benefits
- Are a strong conceptual thinker with exceptional writing craft
- Have experience partnering cross-functionally with creative, product, strategic, and technical teams
- Can operate autonomously, drive clarity in ambiguity, and move work forward in fast-paced environments
- Can balance creative ambition with clarity, precision, accessibility, and decisiveness
- Have strong project ownership and organizational skills
- Have an excellent sense of voice, tone, rhythm, and structure

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Copywriter
Frame your portfolio for U.S. specialty occupation
The E-3 requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Organize your portfolio to show work tied directly to your degree field. A communications degree supporting brand copywriting is a cleaner fit than a general arts degree supporting technical writing.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have previously filed LCAs for copywriters or content strategists. These employers already understand the certification process and are less likely to withdraw an offer over sponsorship unfamiliarity.
Address sponsorship early in the offer stage
Raise your E-3 requirement before a written offer is drafted, not after. U.S. hiring managers often confuse the E-3 with the H-1B lottery. Clarify that your visa requires employer-filed DOL certification but no USCIS petition or lottery entry, which removes the most common objection.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission to the DOL and prepare your consulate appointment documents. This reduces the administrative burden on your new employer, which can accelerate their internal approval for sponsorship.
Verify your Australian degree equivalency before applying
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted by U.S. consular officers as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree. If your degree is in a related but non-obvious field, prepare a credential evaluation letter to present at your consulate interview alongside your DS-160 and LCA.
Search for E-3 copywriter roles through Migrate Mate
Most general job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type. Migrate Mate surfaces copywriter roles at employers with E-3 sponsorship history, saving you from applying to positions where sponsorship was never on the table.

Find Copywriter JobsCopywriter E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find copywriter jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Start with Migrate Mate, which surfaces copywriter roles at employers with documented E-3 and LCA sponsorship history. Most standard job boards don't filter by visa type, so you'll spend time applying to roles where sponsorship was never an option. Targeting employers with prior LCA filings for copywriting or content roles cuts that waste significantly.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a copywriter role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as communications, marketing, journalism, or English. The job description must reflect that a degree in that field is a genuine requirement, not just preferred. Broad listings that accept any degree or equivalent experience create risk at the consulate interview, so ask your employer to tighten the job description before you file.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for copywriters?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and has no annual lottery, so you can apply any time of year once you have a job offer. The H-1B requires entering a randomized lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate and a fixed April registration window. For Australian copywriters, the E-3 is the more direct and predictable path to U.S. employment.
What happens to my E-3 status if I want to change employers?
Your E-3 visa is tied to a specific employer and LCA. If you change jobs, your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp, which typically means a consulate appointment in Australia or a third country. There is no portability provision like the one available under the H-1B, so plan your transition timeline around consulate appointment availability.
