E-3 Visa Corporate Counsel Jobs
Corporate Counsel roles qualify as E-3 specialty occupations under DOL's professional services category, making Australian-qualified lawyers a strong fit for U.S. visa sponsorship. The E-3 has no lottery, renews in two-year increments, and can be filed directly at a U.S. consulate in Australia once your employer secures a certified LCA.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Corporate Counsel
Get your Australian credentials assessed early
U.S. employers and consular officers want confirmation your Australian law degree meets specialty occupation standards. A credential evaluation from a NACES-recognized agency establishes equivalency to a U.S. J.D. or LL.B. before interviews begin.
Target in-house legal teams at multinational companies
In-house legal departments at multinationals with Australian operations already understand cross-border employment. They're far more likely to sponsor E-3 candidates than domestic law firms, which rarely file for foreign associates due to bar admission complications.
Search verified E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Corporate Counsel roles where employers have confirmed E-3 sponsorship willingness. Searching general job boards returns roles with no visa support and wastes critical application time.
Clarify bar admission requirements before accepting offers
Some Corporate Counsel roles require U.S. bar admission, which the E-3 doesn't grant. Confirm with each employer whether the role requires active U.S. licensure or whether foreign-qualified lawyers practicing exclusively under supervision are acceptable.
Ask your employer to file the LCA before your start date
The DOL-certified LCA must be in hand before you can attend your consulate appointment in Australia. The LCA typically certifies within seven business days, but your employer needs to initiate it as soon as your offer letter is signed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage your paperwork
Corporate Counsel applications involve specialty occupation documentation that differs from standard professional roles. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA preparation, DS-160, and consulate package so nothing is missing before your interview.

Find Corporate Counsel JobsCorporate Counsel E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Corporate Counsel jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Corporate Counsel roles where employers have confirmed E-3 sponsorship. Most general job postings don't specify visa support, so filtering by sponsorship status upfront saves significant time. Migrate Mate surfaces roles specifically tagged for E-3 eligibility, so you're only applying to positions where sponsorship is already on the table.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Corporate Counsel role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
Yes. DOL treats legal counsel positions as specialty occupations because they require a bachelor's degree or higher in law as a minimum standard for entry. Your Australian law degree, assessed as equivalent to a U.S. J.D. or LL.B., satisfies this requirement. The employer must document the theoretical and practical application of legal knowledge in the LCA and supporting materials.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Corporate Counsel roles?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for Australian lawyers. There's no annual lottery, so your employer can file at any time and expect a decision within weeks rather than waiting for a random selection in April. H-1B petitions require USCIS adjudication after lottery selection, adding months of uncertainty. The E-3 also processes at Australian consulates, meaning you can start work much faster once the LCA is certified.
Can I switch from one Corporate Counsel role to another while on an E-3?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific, so your new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp tied to that employer. You can't simply transfer your existing visa. If you're already in the U.S., you can begin work with the new employer once the new LCA is certified, but check your visa stamp validity and consult your employer on timing.
