Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Engineering Program Manager
Translate your credentials for U.S. recruiters
Australian engineering degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year bachelor's degrees, but have a credential evaluation letter ready from a NACES-approved body. Recruiters and DOL reviewers expect to see the equivalency documented, not assumed.
Target employers with active LCA filing histories
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for engineering or program management roles. Employers already familiar with the LCA process move faster and make fewer mistakes when sponsoring E-3 holders.
Distinguish E-3 sponsorship from H-1B when approaching employers
Many U.S. hiring managers assume Australian candidates need H-1B sponsorship and worry about the lottery. Clarify upfront that the E-3 requires no lottery, has a 10,500-slot annual allocation that has never been exhausted, and involves a simpler employer process.
Confirm your job description supports specialty occupation
The role must normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific technical discipline, not just prefer one. Program manager titles that lean heavily toward general business coordination rather than engineering oversight can draw LCA scrutiny, so verify the job duties align with a defined technical field.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage your paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end, from DOL certification through consulate appointment prep. This keeps your employer's workload minimal and reduces the risk of documentation errors that delay your start date.
Negotiate your start date around LCA certification timelines
The DOL typically certifies LCAs within seven business days, but consulate appointment slots at Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth can add two to six weeks. Build that window into your offer negotiation so your employer isn't pressuring you to start before your visa is stamped.

Find Engineering Program Manager JobsEngineering Program Manager E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Engineering Program Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that include E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see which employers have a history of sponsoring Australian workers. Because the E-3 requires employer participation but no lottery, roles listed with E-3 sponsorship are genuinely actionable, not just aspirational postings.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Engineering Program Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, systems management, or a directly related technical field. Roles focused primarily on budget oversight or stakeholder communication without a defined technical degree requirement can face LCA challenges, so the job description should clearly tie responsibilities to engineering expertise.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Engineering Program Manager roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens but has no lottery, no annual cap issues, and a lower administrative burden for employers. H-1B registrations enter a random lottery with roughly a 25 to 30 percent selection rate for most applicants. For an Australian EPM candidate, the E-3 means a qualified employer can begin the process immediately after extending an offer, with no lottery risk and no multi-year wait.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as an Engineering Program Manager?
Yes, but you can't port your existing E-3 the way an H-1B holder can under portability rules. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll typically need a new visa stamp before starting. If you're already in the U.S., you can sometimes begin work after the new LCA is certified and a new I-94 is issued, but consult the specific timeline carefully with your filing service.
