Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Estimator
Translate your Australian qualifications accurately
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree in construction management, quantity surveying, or engineering satisfies the E-3 visa degree requirement. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before applying so employers don't question your equivalency.
Target construction firms with active LCA history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have filed LCAs for estimator or cost engineer roles. Prior LCA filings signal a company already understands the E-3 process and won't stall at the sponsorship step.
Find E-3 sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to identify employers actively hiring Estimators with E-3 sponsorship and to handle your LCA filing and consulate preparation from a single platform.
Frame your quantity surveying background for U.S. roles
U.S. employers rarely post for 'quantity surveyors,' but the work maps directly to Estimator and Cost Engineer titles. Reframe your CV around SOC codes 13-1051 and 11-9021 so your experience reads as directly relevant to their job descriptions.
Confirm your job offer covers the prevailing wage
Your employer's LCA must certify that your offered wage meets the DOL prevailing wage for Estimators in the specific metro area. Before signing an offer letter, verify the posted wage level against the DOL's prevailing wage database for your work location.
Start the LCA filing before your intended start date
The DOL has a mandatory seven-business-day public notice period before LCA certification. Factor this into your timeline so your employer isn't scrambling after you've already resigned your Australian position.
E-3 Visa Estimator: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Estimator jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Estimator roles at employers with active E-3 and LCA filing history, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never sponsored a visa. Filtering by role and sponsorship type saves weeks of back-and-forth with recruiters who don't understand the E-3 process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Estimator role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the employer's position description requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as construction management, civil engineering, quantity surveying, or applied mathematics. Roles that accept any degree field or treat the degree as preferred rather than required can face scrutiny, so the job offer letter should state the degree requirement explicitly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Estimator roles?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any point in the year once you have a job offer. The H-1B visa is capped at 85,000 per year and requires a lottery selection that runs once annually in March. For Australian Estimators, the E-3 is a direct path that doesn't depend on chance.
Can I switch employers mid-project on an E-3?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new DS-160 and consulate appointment before starting work with them. There's no H-1B-style portability that lets you start immediately after filing. Plan for at least a few weeks of processing time before your new role begins.
