Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Sourcing
Frame your credentials for U.S. specialty occupation standards
Your Australian three-year bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but your offer letter must describe the Sourcing role as requiring that specific credential. Ask the hiring manager to specify the degree field in your job offer.
Target employers with active DOL LCA filing history
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to find companies that have previously filed LCAs for Sourcing or procurement titles. These employers already understand the process and are far less likely to delay or withdraw sponsorship over unfamiliarity.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages LCA certification with the DOL, prepares your DS-160, and coordinates consulate preparation so your employer doesn't need to source separate immigration counsel.
Clarify E-3 eligibility before accepting a contract role
Sourcing positions are sometimes structured as consulting or third-party contracts. The E-3 requires a direct employer-employee relationship, so confirm that the sponsoring company is your legal employer, not a staffing agency placing you at a client site.
Time your application around consulate appointment availability
E-3 visa interviews are processed at Australian consulates in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. Appointment slots vary significantly by location and season, so factor consulate wait times into your start date negotiation rather than committing to a fixed first day.
Address specialty occupation status for generalist Sourcing titles
Titles like 'Buyer' or 'Procurement Coordinator' can attract USCIS scrutiny if the role appears generalist. Ask your employer to emphasize degree-specific analytical responsibilities in the job description and LCA to reinforce the specialty occupation requirement.
E-3 Visa Sourcing: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Sourcing jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. Rather than filtering generic job boards manually, you can search Sourcing and procurement positions where employers are already familiar with E-3 requirements. That shortcut saves significant time compared to cold outreach to employers who have never sponsored the visa.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Sourcing role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
A Sourcing role qualifies as a specialty occupation when the position routinely requires a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a directly related field. Roles focused on strategic supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and spend analysis typically meet this standard. Generalist buying roles that accept any degree field can face greater scrutiny and need stronger job description language to pass USCIS review.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Sourcing professionals?
The E-3 has no annual lottery, so you can apply at any point during the year after receiving a job offer rather than waiting for an April registration window. H-1B visa registrations are capped at 85,000 per fiscal year and subject to random selection, meaning qualified Sourcing professionals are sometimes excluded by chance alone. The E-3 also renews in two-year increments without a cap limit.
Can my E-3 employer change once I'm already working in the U.S.?
Yes, but you need a new E-3 visa tied to the new employer. The E-3 is employer-specific, so changing companies requires your new employer to file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you to obtain a new visa stamp, either at an Australian consulate or through a U.S. consulate if you're traveling internationally. You cannot simply transfer the visa the way some other visa categories allow portability.
