Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Health Information Technology
Align your credentials to U.S. specialty occupation standards
Your Australian bachelor's degree in health informatics or information management must map to the specific role requirements. If your degree title differs from the U.S. norm, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before approaching employers.
Target employers with active DOL LCA filing history
HIT roles at hospital systems, health tech vendors, and large managed care organizations regularly file Labor Condition Applications with the DOL. Filtering employers by prior LCA activity tells you who already understands E-3 sponsorship obligations before you apply.
Address the specialty occupation question in your application
Many HIT job postings list a bachelor's degree as preferred rather than required. That distinction matters for E-3 eligibility. Tailor your resume and cover letter to mirror the employer's language about degree requirements in the field.
Confirm your employer is enrolled in E-Verify
E-3 employers must complete Form I-9 verification, and many hospital networks and government contractors are required to use E-Verify. Confirm enrollment early so this step doesn't delay your start date after the visa is approved.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, the LCA must be certified by the DOL before your consulate appointment can proceed. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, so filing errors don't stall your start date.
Clarify remote and hybrid arrangements before the LCA is filed
If your HIT role involves remote work across multiple sites, each work location may need to be listed on the LCA. Resolve the worksite structure with your employer before filing, as adding locations after certification requires an amendment.

Find Health Information Technology JobsHealth Information Technology E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Health Information Technology jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Health Information Technology roles from employers with E-3 sponsorship experience, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the process. Search by role type and location, then filter for E-3-eligible positions. Targeting employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications before significantly shortens the time between offer and visa approval.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Health Information Technology role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as health informatics, health information management, or a related discipline. Roles like EHR analyst, clinical data manager, or HIT project lead typically qualify. Generalist IT support roles that accept any bachelor's degree are harder to qualify and may face USCIS scrutiny.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Health Information Technology professionals?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and has no annual lottery, so you can apply any time of year after receiving a job offer. The H-1B has an 85,000-slot annual cap and a randomized selection process. For HIT professionals, the E-3 offers a more predictable path to a U.S. role without waiting for a lottery result.
What happens to my E-3 status if I change HIT employers mid-visa period?
Your E-3 status is tied to the specific employer named on the LCA and visa. If you change employers, your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need to apply for a new E-3 visa, either at a U.S. consulate or through a change of status with USCIS. You cannot simply transfer the existing visa to a new employer.
