Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Instructor
Verify your degree field aligns precisely
Instructor roles must qualify as specialty occupations under E-3 rules, meaning your degree needs to match the subject or discipline you'll teach. A general arts degree won't support a technical training role, so confirm the match before applying.
Target employers with existing LCA history
Universities, corporate training firms, and vocational colleges that have filed Labor Condition Applications before are far more likely to sponsor you. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify institutions already familiar with the E-3 process for instructional staff.
Address specialty occupation in your cover letter
Many U.S. hiring managers don't know the E-3 requires the role to meet specialty occupation criteria. Proactively frame your Instructor position around its degree requirements in your application materials so the employer understands what the sponsorship conversation will involve.
Get your credentials formally evaluated early
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but having a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved body ready before interviews removes a common employer hesitation about sponsoring overseas qualifications.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA step
The Labor Condition Application must be DOL-certified before your visa appointment, and errors delay the entire process. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the LCA submission, visa paperwork, and consulate preparation so nothing falls through between offer and approval.
Negotiate the visa filing timeline into your offer
E-3 consulate processing in Australia typically runs two to four weeks once the LCA is certified. Build that window into your start date conversation with the employer so they're not expecting you on campus within days of signing.

Find Instructor JobsInstructor E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Instructor jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Most Instructor postings don't advertise E-3 sponsorship directly, so standard job searches often miss willing employers. Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals and surfaces Instructor roles at employers with active E-3 and LCA filing history, saving you from cold outreach to employers who have never sponsored before.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Instructor role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field relevant to the instruction. A role teaching software engineering, curriculum design, or subject-specific content at a college or corporate training center typically qualifies. A general facilitator role with no defined degree requirement is harder to support and may draw scrutiny.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Instructor positions?
The E-3 is available year-round with no lottery, no numerical cap, and no filing season to wait for. H-1B registration opens once a year in March with roughly a one-in-four chance of selection. For Australians, the E-3 means you can accept an Instructor offer any month and begin the filing process immediately rather than waiting up to 18 months for an H-1B slot.
Can I switch from one Instructor employer to another on an E-3?
Yes, but each employer change requires a fresh E-3 process. Your current employer's LCA and visa stamp are tied to that specific position and worksite. When you move to a new institution, the new employer files a new LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp, which means another consulate appointment in Australia.
