Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an IT Architect
Document your architecture credentials upfront
Gather your academic transcripts, certifications like TOGAF or AWS Solutions Architect, and employment letters that tie your title to a defined architecture function. Consular officers assess specialty occupation based on your documentation, not job title alone.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for architecture or senior engineering roles already understand the E-3 process. Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify which employers have sponsored comparable roles recently.
Use Migrate Mate to find IT Architect roles
Search for IT Architect positions with E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by employers already open to Australian visa holders. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer.
Clarify the specialty occupation case with your employer
Some IT Architect postings list a bachelor's in any field as acceptable. That language can undermine your E-3 case. Ask the hiring team to confirm the role requires a degree in computer science, information systems, or a directly related discipline before the LCA is filed.
Request an amended LCA if your role scope changes
If your responsibilities shift significantly after you enter the U.S., your employer may need to file a new LCA with the DOL. A mismatch between your approved LCA and actual duties is a common compliance risk for architects moving between project assignments.
Schedule your consulate appointment before your start date
E-3 visas are issued at Australian consulates in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth with typical processing of two to four weeks. Confirm your appointment is booked well before your agreed start date so delays don't push back your employer's project timelines.

Find IT Architect JobsIT Architect E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find IT Architect jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists IT Architect roles from employers open to E-3 sponsorship, so you're not filtering through positions that exclude Australian visa holders. The E-3 has no lottery and no cap, meaning employers can hire year-round without the timing constraints that make H-1B sponsorship difficult to plan around.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an IT Architect role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
IT Architect roles generally qualify as specialty occupations because they require theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge, typically in computer science, information systems, or software engineering. The key is that your actual duties must require a degree in a specific related field, not just any bachelor's degree. Job descriptions that accept any undergraduate major can create problems at the consulate.
How does the E-3 visa compare to H-1B for IT Architect roles?
For IT Architects, the E-3 is materially easier to obtain than H-1B. There's no lottery, no annual cap, and no April registration window. Your employer files an LCA with the DOL, you apply directly at an Australian consulate, and the visa can be renewed every two years indefinitely. H-1B requires surviving a lottery before any sponsorship process begins, which creates multi-year delays many candidates can't accommodate.
Can I change employers on an E-3 visa as an IT Architect?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll generally need a new visa stamp unless you're changing status inside the U.S. You can't carry your existing E-3 authorization to a new company the way some other visa categories allow. Coordinate the timing carefully so your old employment end date and new LCA certification don't leave a gap in your authorized status.
