Job Summary
The Director, Amazon & Marketplace Growth, North America is a strategic growth leader responsible for defining and leading the next phase of Designs for Health's marketplace expansion across the United States and Canada. This role goes beyond managing the existing Amazon business: it develops scalable growth strategies that expand consumer awareness and demand while advancing DFH's ambition to be a brand that is trusted in practice and known at home. With full P&L accountability, this leader will shape the growth plan, optimize the marketing strategy and investment mix, and identify new opportunities to increase new-to-brand acquisition, conversion, average order value, subscription growth, retention, and customer lifetime value. The Director owns Amazon retail media, including Sponsored Ads and Amazon DSP, and partners closely with Brand and the broader Marketing organization to develop off-platform strategies and activations that build awareness and generate demand. The role also directs the external operating partner, internal team, agencies, budgets, forecasting, digital shelf, and cross-functional execution, while building and leading the roadmap for emerging commerce channels such as TikTok Shop, Meta Shops, and other growth platforms. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Marketing, this leader balances aggressive, profitable growth with scientific credibility, product integrity, and the needs of DFH's broader practitioner and customer ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the Amazon US and Canada growth strategy and full P&L, translating company growth objectives into scalable annual, quarterly, and monthly plans across revenue, contribution margin, investment, profitability, customer acquisition, retention, and sustainable channel growth.
- Own and continuously optimize the Amazon marketing strategy and investment mix across Sponsored Ads, Amazon DSP, and relevant off-Amazon media, using disciplined experimentation and measurement to accelerate profitable growth and improve customer economics.
- Develop integrated growth plans with the Brand and broader Marketing teams, shaping off-platform media, content, creator, affiliate, and campaign activations that build consumer awareness and generate incremental demand for Amazon and other priority commerce channels.
- Direct and hold accountable the external Amazon operating partner supporting Vendor Central and Seller Central, establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, service levels, and business reviews.
- Lead Amazon assortment, pricing and promotion strategy, new-product launches, Subscribe & Save, seasonal events, and channel-specific merchandising to increase conversion, average order value, subscription adoption, repeat purchase, and long-term customer value.
- Lead the evolution of the Amazon digital shelf, including catalog health, product detail pages, Brand Stores, search optimization, content, ratings and reviews, conversion, and brand consistency, ensuring the experience supports both demand capture and long-term brand growth.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to improve demand forecasts, inventory availability, in-stock performance, fulfillment readiness, account health, fees, deductions, chargebacks, and returns.
- Build dashboards and executive reporting that translate revenue, profitability, ACoS, TACoS, ROAS, traffic, conversion, new-to-brand, average order value, subscription, retention, lifetime value, inventory, and customer trends into clear growth actions and investment decisions.
- Lead, coach, and develop direct reports while determining the right balance of internal capabilities, agencies, technology, and external marketplace expertise.
- Partner closely with Brand, Creative, Performance Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, Product, Customer Experience, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations to shape off-platform strategies and activations that increase awareness, generate demand, and convert consumers across Amazon and other growth platforms while protecting DFH's scientific credibility and brand standards.
- Identify and develop the marketplace and social-commerce growth roadmap beyond Amazon, including business cases, channel economics, audience opportunities, operating requirements, and launch plans for TikTok Shop, Meta Shops, and other priority platforms.
- Lead the phased launch and scaling of approved emerging marketplaces and growth platforms, coordinating with Brand, paid media, content, creator/affiliate, and DTC teams to align audiences, creative, activation plans, measurement, ownership, and investment.
- Serve as a strategic growth leader to senior leadership, proactively identifying new opportunities, surfacing risks, recommending investments, and making decisions that balance near-term performance with long-term brand, customer, and channel value.
Competency
- Commercial & Strategic Growth Ownership: Translates company priorities into scalable marketplace growth strategies and takes accountability for P&L performance, resource allocation, customer economics, and long-term business value.
- Growth & Performance Orientation: Uses disciplined testing, measurement, and optimization to improve new-to-brand acquisition, media efficiency, conversion, average order value, subscription growth, retention, lifetime value, and profitable growth.
- Marketplace Expertise: Understands the commercial, advertising, operational, and customer-experience levers that drive success across Amazon and emerging commerce platforms.
- Analytical Judgment: Synthesizes financial, marketing, customer, inventory, and operational data to identify risks, opportunities, and practical actions.
- Cross-Functional Growth Leadership: Builds alignment across Brand, Marketing, Creative, Operations, Finance, and other teams to connect awareness and demand-generation strategies with marketplace growth and commercial outcomes.
- Team & Partner Leadership: Sets high expectations, develops talent, and creates accountability across employees, agencies, and external operating partners.
- Adaptability & Innovation: Anticipates changing consumer and marketplace dynamics and identifies new channels, growth platforms, tools, partnerships, and operating models that can expand DFH's reach and accelerate growth.

Frame your degree for specialty occupation
Marketplace Manager roles sit at the intersection of business strategy and digital operations. Make sure your Australian bachelor's degree transcripts show a field-specific match, whether marketing, commerce, or information systems, before your employer files the LCA.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for marketplace, platform, or e-commerce management roles. Employers already in the system understand the process and are far less likely to withdraw an offer mid-sponsorship.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and consulate prep
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end. Errors in the prevailing wage determination or job duty description are the most common reasons E-3 visa applications stall.
Negotiate your start date around LCA certification
The DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but your employer can't submit your visa application until certification is complete. Build at least two to three weeks of buffer between your accepted offer date and your proposed start date to avoid timeline pressure.
Address multi-channel scope in your role description
Marketplace Manager duties vary widely across retail, SaaS, and logistics platforms. Work with your employer to ensure the LCA job description reflects your actual responsibilities accurately. A vague or overly broad description can trigger a USCIS request for evidence at the consulate stage.
Use E-3 status to your advantage in interviews
Unlike H-1B visa candidates, you don't consume a lottery slot and can start within weeks of a certified LCA. When an employer raises visa concerns, explaining that the E-3 requires no lottery and no USCIS petition approval shifts the conversation from risk to timeline.
E-3 Visa Marketplace Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Marketplace Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see which employers have E-3 filing history, so you're targeting companies that already understand the process rather than educating a recruiter from scratch.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Marketplace Manager role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as marketing, business administration, or a related discipline. The specialty occupation standard means the degree must be a normal requirement for the position, not just preferred. If the job posting says 'bachelor's preferred,' that can weaken your application. Make sure the offer letter and LCA job description both state the degree as required.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for a Marketplace Manager role?
The practical difference is significant. H-1B requires you to enter a lottery with roughly a one-in-four chance of selection, and you can only start on October 1 each year. The E-3 has no lottery, no annual cap that has ever been reached, and you can start as soon as your LCA is certified and your visa is stamped. For Marketplace Manager roles, which are common in tech and retail companies already comfortable with sponsorship, the E-3 is a faster and more predictable path.
Can I change employers after starting a Marketplace Manager role on an E-3?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA and your new employer must sponsor the role before you change jobs. The E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't simply transfer status the way some other visa categories allow. If you want to start with a new employer before your current E-3 expires, your new employer needs to complete LCA certification and you'll need a new visa stamp at a consulate before beginning work.
