Description
About the role:
We are seeking a customer-facing, hands-on Workstation Technologist to serve as the presales subject-matter expert for the HP Workstation portfolio—spanning GPU-accelerated platforms, RTX-powered systems, edge AI workstations, and enterprise workstation solutions. You will translate customer workloads into right-sized architectures, lead technical discovery through proof-of-concept (PoC), and help customers deploy and optimize mission-critical solutions.
This role is best suited for someone with high performance compute (HPC) who can communicate credibly with engineers and confidently with executives. Primary emphasis is on AI inference acceleration and advanced workstation workflows for enterprise customers (e.g., simulation/visualization and digital twin enablement), with adjacent exposure to industrial/edge use cases as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Engagement & Technical Discovery
- Lead discovery with enterprise customers to understand workloads, success criteria, constraints, and deployment environments.
- Deliver technical workshops, whiteboard sessions, and demos tailored to AI acceleration and advanced workstation workflows.
-
Act as the primary presales technical authority for the HP Advanced Compute / Workstation portfolio.
-
Solution Architecture, Validation & Proof of Concept
- Design end-to-end architectures that integrate GPU compute, storage, networking, and edge-to-cloud orchestration where applicable.
- Provide architecture guidance for AI inference, simulation, visualization, and digital twin enablement; evaluate fit for adjacent workloads (HPC/industrial/robotics) as needed.
- Build PoCs in customer environments; define test plans, run experiments, and document results.
-
Conduct performance modeling, benchmarking, tuning, and optimization across Linux/Windows workstation configurations.
-
Enablement, Assets & Field Feedback
- Create and maintain reference architectures, deployment guides, and repeatable playbooks that scale across the field.
- Partner with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Alliance teams to share field insights, influence roadmap priorities, and improve solution packaging.
Success in the First 6–12 Months
- Deliver repeatable discovery + architecture approach for top target workloads (AI inference acceleration, simulation/visualization, digital twins).
- Complete 3–6 customer workshops and 2–4 PoCs with documented results, configurations, and recommendations.
- Publish at least 2 reference architectures or playbooks that are adopted by the field.
- Establish benchmarking baselines for key HP workstation configurations and common customer frameworks.
- Provide actionable field feedback to Product/Engineering with clear priority, customer impact, and technical rationale.
Work Location & Travel
Location: Barcelona, UK, Spain, US and Morocco. Travel: up to 25–40% (customer/partner engagements, workshops, and on-site PoCs) depending on territory needs.
Qualifications – Required
- 5+ years in presales engineering, solution architecture, advanced computing, GPU systems, workstation architecture, and/or edge AI platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
- Strong Linux and Windows troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills for workstation-class systems.
- Ability to build and execute PoCs: define test plans, run benchmarks, interpret results, and communicate tradeoffs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to both technical and executive audiences.
Qualifications – Preferred
- Experience with HP Advanced Compute solutions and workstation portfolio positioning.
- Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, simulation/visualization pipelines, and/or digital twin workflows.
- Background in HPC, industrial edge, robotics, or automation workloads.
- Certifications such as NVIDIA DLI, or cloud AI certifications (AWS/GCP/Azure), or equivalent.
- Experience optimizing AI/ML inference performance and/or GPU-accelerated workstation workflows.
Key Competencies
- Customer-first problem solving; ability to translate ambiguous needs into testable requirements and architectures.
- Executive-ready communication: clear storytelling, crisp tradeoffs, and confident recommendations.
- Independent ownership of complex solution design, PoC delivery, and technical risk management.
- Collaborative mindset across Sales, Alliances, Product, and Engineering; bias for reusable assets and scale.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Presales Solution Architect
Frame your credentials for specialty occupation
U.S. employers need your role to meet the specialty occupation standard. Translate your Australian degree and presales experience into the specific technical disciplines DOL recognizes, systems engineering, enterprise architecture, or computer science, before applying.
Target companies with active LCA filings
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have filed LCAs for solution architect or presales titles. These companies already understand the E-3 visa process and are far less likely to stall at the sponsorship conversation.
Clarify sponsorship early in recruiter conversations
Many U.S. recruiters conflate E-3 with H-1B and assume a lottery is involved. State upfront that the E-3 has no lottery, no cap, and that your employer's main obligation is filing a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your consulate appointment.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service post-offer
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. Presales roles often involve multi-client travel, and getting the job title and worksite details right on the LCA matters for consulate approval.
Align your DS-160 occupation to your LCA title
The occupation you enter on your DS-160 must match your certified LCA job title exactly. Presales titles vary widely, Solution Consultant, Technical Sales Engineer, Presales Architect, so confirm the LCA wording with your employer before completing the consulate application.
Account for LCA certification timing in your start date
DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but complex cases take longer. Build at least two weeks between your offer acceptance and your proposed start date so your employer can file and receive LCA certification before you book your consulate appointment.
E-3 Visa Presales Solution Architect: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Presales Solution Architect jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Presales Solution Architect roles where employers are already open to E-3 sponsorship. Many listings on general job boards don't specify visa support, so filtering by sponsorship-ready employers saves significant time. Migrate Mate surfaces roles specifically matched to Australian E-3 applicants, reducing back-and-forth with recruiters who aren't familiar with the visa.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Presales Solution Architect role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. The E-3 requires the position to normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific technical discipline. Presales Solution Architect roles typically require engineering, computer science, or information systems degrees and involve technically complex sales cycles, which satisfies the specialty occupation standard. Roles where any bachelor's degree is accepted regardless of field are harder to support, so the job description wording matters.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Presales Solution Architect roles?
The E-3 has significant practical advantages for this role. There's no annual lottery, no cap, and no registration fee. Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL, you attend a consulate interview in Australia, and processing typically takes a few weeks rather than months. H-1B requires lottery selection in April, a six-month wait, and an October 1 start date, making it impractical for employers trying to fill a presales role on a normal hiring timeline.
Can I switch employers or clients while on an E-3 in a presales role?
Changing employers requires a new LCA and a new E-3 visa tied to the new employer, you can't transfer the visa like some other statuses. For presales roles that involve multi-client engagements or consulting arrangements, the LCA must list the employer of record, not end clients. If your role shifts to a third-party site, your employer should confirm the LCA worksite coverage before that assignment begins.
