Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Program Specialist
Frame your Australian degree for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-accredited body before applying so employers aren't uncertain about your qualifications.
Target employers with federal contract work
Government contractors, nonprofits managing federal grants, and public-sector consulting firms regularly hire Program Specialists and understand LCA filing obligations. These organizations already operate within DOL compliance frameworks, making E-3 sponsorship a familiar process rather than a new burden.
Search for E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Most Program Specialist job postings don't advertise E-3 sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate filters roles by employers with active E-3 and H-1B filing history, so you're targeting organizations already comfortable with the process rather than cold-educating hiring managers.
Clarify the specialty occupation link at offer stage
Program Specialist is a broad title. Before your employer files the LCA with DOL, confirm the job description specifies a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, such as public administration, social sciences, or business, not just any bachelor's degree.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for post-offer paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the LCA submission, DS-160 preparation, and consulate appointment coordination. This matters for Program Specialist roles where job duties need to be accurately mapped to specialty occupation criteria.
Account for LCA certification timing before your start date
DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days, but your employer should file at least three weeks before your intended start date to allow for the consulate appointment. Misaligned timelines are the most common reason offer acceptances get complicated.

Find Program Specialist JobsProgram Specialist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Program Specialist jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Most Program Specialist postings don't flag E-3 sponsorship in the job description because employers often don't distinguish it from H-1B. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers with documented federal visa filing history, which narrows your search to organizations already familiar with the LCA process and more likely to sponsor an Australian candidate without lengthy internal approvals.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Program Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. Program Specialist positions that require a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as public policy, business administration, or social sciences, can qualify. Roles where any bachelor's degree is acceptable regardless of field are harder to support under USCIS specialty occupation standards. The job description needs to establish a direct relationship between the degree field and the duties.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Program Specialist positions?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so an Australian professional with a qualifying Program Specialist offer can apply at any time of year and expect a consulate decision within weeks. H-1B selection is capped at 85,000 annually and decided by a randomized lottery, meaning most applicants don't receive a slot regardless of qualifications. The E-3 specialty occupation definition is the same standard, but the path to actually obtaining the visa is far more predictable.
Can I change Program Specialist employers while on an E-3?
Yes, but the process starts fresh with each new employer. Your new employer must file a new LCA with DOL and you'll need to attend a new consulate interview, since the E-3 is employer-specific. There's no portability provision like some other visa categories, so plan for a gap of several weeks between your last day with the current employer and your authorized start date with the new one.
