Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Project Consultant
Frame your credentials for specialty occupation
U.S. employers need to confirm your role meets the specialty occupation standard. A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent, but bring transcripts and a credential evaluation if your degree field doesn't directly match the job description.
Target firms with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to find consulting firms that have filed LCAs for project or management consultant roles. Prior LCA activity means the employer already understands the process and won't stall at the sponsorship conversation.
Search for sponsored roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Project Consultant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship in one place. The platform filters roles by visa type so you're not cold-applying to employers who've never sponsored an Australian national before.
Raise sponsorship early in the offer stage
Don't wait for the written offer to mention E-3 sponsorship. Bring it up after a verbal indication of interest, explain that the employer files the LCA with the DOL and you handle the consulate appointment, and clarify that there's no lottery or quota risk.
Confirm your role qualifies before accepting an offer
Not every Project Consultant title meets the specialty occupation threshold. If your day-to-day duties are general project coordination rather than work requiring specialized degree-level knowledge, USCIS may question the classification. Get the job description reviewed before you proceed.
Use a filing service to handle LCA and visa paperwork
The LCA must be certified by the DOL before you can apply at the consulate. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end, so the timeline from offer to consulate appointment doesn't stall on document preparation.
E-3 Visa Project Consultant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Project Consultant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Project Consultant roles filtered specifically for E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't distinguish between visa types, so you end up cold-applying to employers who have no sponsorship history. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers already familiar with the E-3 process, which significantly reduces back-and-forth during the offer stage.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Project Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. A Project Consultant position qualifies when the duties require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as engineering, business, or information technology. Roles framed as general project coordination or client management, without a clear degree requirement tied to the work, are more likely to face scrutiny from USCIS. The job description and offer letter both need to reflect the specialized nature of the work.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Project Consultant roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian nationals and has no lottery, no annual cap, and no limit on renewals. The H-1B visa has an 85,000-slot annual cap with a randomized lottery, meaning most applicants are not selected. For an Australian professional, the E-3 is a direct path to a Project Consultant role without the lottery risk that makes H-1B sponsorship uncertain for employers and applicants alike.
What happens if my employer has never sponsored an E-3 visa before?
A first-time E-3 employer doesn't need prior sponsorship history, but they do need to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and attest to prevailing wage compliance before you can apply at the consulate. Many employers hesitate because they're unfamiliar with the steps. Walking your employer through the process, or having a filing service manage it on their behalf, removes the main friction point in getting a first-time sponsor to move forward.
