Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
Verify your NBRC credentials transfer correctly
U.S. employers require RRT certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care. Confirm your Australian qualifications meet the equivalency threshold before applying, as some states also require a state license on top of RRT certification.
Use Migrate Mate to find and file your E-3
Search for Registered Respiratory Therapist roles with E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate, then use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer confirmed.
Clarify the LCA wage level with your employer early
The DOL-certified LCA must list a wage at or above the prevailing rate for your SOC code and work location. Ask your employer which wage level they intend to certify before signing an offer, since Level I wages can complicate renewals.
Address credential evaluation before your visa interview
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees in respiratory therapy are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but a formal credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency gives your consular officer documentation to rely on.
Prepare for state licensure requirements before your start date
Most U.S. states require RTs to hold a state-issued license separate from NBRC certification. Some states grant temporary licenses while a full application is processed, but confirm the timeline with your employer so your start date aligns with authorization.

Find Registered Respiratory Therapist JobsRegistered Respiratory Therapist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Registered Respiratory Therapist jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals seeking E-3 visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can search Registered Respiratory Therapist roles filtered by employers willing to sponsor E-3 applicants, which removes the manual work of screening job postings that don't address visa status at all.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an RRT role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes. Registered Respiratory Therapist positions require at minimum a bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy or a closely related field, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation definition. USCIS treats the RRT credential and the degree requirement as evidence that the role isn't open to candidates from unrelated disciplines.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian respiratory therapists?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no random selection risk. The H-1B requires surviving an oversubscribed lottery before an employer can even file a petition. For Australian RTs, the E-3 is a direct path: get an offer, have the employer file an LCA with the DOL, then attend a consulate appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth.
Can I transfer my E-3 status if I change hospitals or health systems?
Yes, but the process restarts with the new employer. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need updated visa documentation. You can't carry an existing E-3 approval to a new role. If you're already in the U.S., timing the transition carefully avoids any gap in authorized work status.
