Frame your Australian sales credentials precisely
U.S. hiring managers may not recognize Australian degree titles or industry certifications. Translate your qualifications into U.S. equivalents upfront, and clarify that a three-year Australian bachelor's degree meets the E-3 visa education requirement.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's public Labor Condition Application disclosure data to find companies that have already filed LCAs for Sales Consultant or similar roles. These employers understand the E-3 process and are less likely to stall on sponsorship.
Address the specialty occupation question early
Not every Sales Consultant role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Confirm the job description requires a specific bachelor's degree field before applying. Generic or commission-only sales roles are more likely to face LCA or visa scrutiny.
Negotiate sponsorship before signing anything
Raise E-3 sponsorship explicitly during the offer stage, not after. Employers must file the LCA with the DOL and receive certification before you can attend your consulate appointment, so alignment on timing protects your start date.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission, visa paperwork, and consulate preparation. This keeps the process moving without putting the administrative burden entirely on your new employer.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at the consulate
Australian consular officers routinely ask Sales Consultants about long-term plans given the renewable nature of the E-3. Have clear, honest answers about your current role and ties to Australia ready before your appointment.
E-3 Visa Sales Consultant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Sales Consultant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Sales Consultant roles filtered by E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't let you filter by visa type, so you end up cold-applying and waiting to find out if a company will sponsor. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with a demonstrated history of E-3 and related work visa filings, saving you that back-and-forth.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Sales Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. A Sales Consultant position qualifies when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as business, marketing, or a technical discipline relevant to the product. Broad roles that accept any degree or substitute experience freely are more likely to face scrutiny during LCA review or at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Sales Consultant roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but it has two major advantages for Sales Consultants: no lottery and no annual cap. The H-1B visa requires surviving a random selection process with roughly a 25 percent chance of selection. The E-3 lets you apply directly once you have an offer, with a consulate appointment typically schedulable within weeks rather than months.
Can I change Sales Consultant employers while on an E-3?
Yes, but you need to restart the process with each new employer. Your E-3 is tied to the specific employer named on the LCA and visa. The new employer files a fresh LCA with the DOL, and you'll typically need a new consulate appointment to get an updated visa stamp. There's no portability provision like some other visa categories offer.
