Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Technical Sales Engineer
Align your degree to the role
Consular officers assess whether your engineering or technical degree directly supports the sales engineer job description. A degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or mechanical engineering maps cleanly, a business degree alone rarely satisfies the specialty occupation requirement.
Target employers with active LCA filings
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify tech and industrial companies that have filed LCAs for technical sales or solutions engineer roles. These employers already understand the E-3 visa process and won't need educating at the offer stage.
Use Migrate Mate to run your job search
Finding E-3-sponsoring employers for technical sales roles takes more than a keyword search. Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by E-3 visa sponsorship, so you're only seeing companies already set up to hire Australian nationals.
Clarify quota language in your offer letter
Some employers confuse the E-3 with the H-1B lottery and assume sponsorship isn't available mid-year. Confirm with HR that the E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been exhausted, so there's no quota-timing concern for your start date.
File your LCA before scheduling your consulate appointment
Your employer must receive a certified LCA from the DOL before you can attend your visa interview. LCA certification typically takes seven business days, so factor this into your timeline when negotiating a start date with your offer.
Hand off the paperwork once you have an offer
Once your employer signs off, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork from start to consulate appointment. This avoids the common mistake of leaving filing logistics to an HR team that's never sponsored an E-3 before.
E-3 Visa Technical Sales Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Technical Sales Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Technical Sales Engineer roles filtered specifically for E-3 visa sponsorship. Most general job boards don't surface sponsorship status accurately, so you end up applying to companies that only run H-1B sponsorship programs. Migrate Mate is built for Australian professionals and shows you employers already set up for the E-3 process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Technical Sales Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided your employer's job description requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field, typically engineering, computer science, or a related discipline. The role needs to involve applying specialized technical knowledge, not just general product familiarity. Roles that list a degree as preferred rather than required can create qualification issues at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Technical Sales Engineer roles?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and has no lottery, which means you can time your application to match your actual job offer and start date. The H-1B requires registering in April for an October start and has a roughly 25% selection rate. For a qualified Australian professional with a technical sales engineering offer, the E-3 is a direct application with no randomized selection risk.
Can I switch employers after starting on an E-3 as a Technical Sales Engineer?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA and your new role must also qualify as a specialty occupation. You'll need to either travel outside the U.S. to attend a new consulate appointment or apply for a change of status if you're already in the country. There's no portability provision like the one that applies to H-1B holders under AC21, so plan your transition timeline carefully.
