Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a New Business Development
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
New Business Development sits in a gray zone for specialty occupation. Translate your Australian degree credentials into U.S. equivalency terms, emphasizing how your field directly supports the technical or analytical demands of the specific role, not just the job title.
Target employers with existing LCA history
Search DOL's Labor Condition Application disclosure data to find companies that have filed LCAs for business development or sales strategy roles. These employers already understand the E-3 process and won't need educating on sponsorship obligations.
Clarify your role scope before the offer
Business development titles can range from glorified sales to senior strategy. Ensure your offer letter specifies duties requiring a degree-level background. Vague descriptions like 'generate revenue' weaken the specialty occupation argument at the consulate.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service end-to-end
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. The LCA must be DOL-certified before your consulate appointment, and any sequencing error resets your timeline.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions
New Business Development roles attract scrutiny because they often lead to long-term U.S. market relationships. At your consulate interview, document your Australian ties clearly. The E-3 doesn't require you to abandon immigrant intent, but you must show present nonimmigrant purpose.
Negotiate start dates around LCA certification windows
DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but delays happen. Build at least three weeks between your accepted offer and proposed start date so your employer isn't forced into an I-9 violation while your paperwork processes.

Find New Business Development JobsNew Business Development E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find New Business Development jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. Filter by role type and E-3 sponsorship status to surface companies that have filed LCAs for business development positions. Many roles go unfilled because employers don't advertise sponsorship availability, so searching by filing history rather than job postings surfaces opportunities most job seekers miss.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a New Business Development role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but the job description does the heavy lifting. The role must normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as business administration, marketing, or economics. Generic titles like 'Business Development Representative' without degree-specific duties in the offer letter can fail the specialty occupation test at the consulate. Roles focused on strategic partnerships, market analysis, or product expansion tend to qualify more cleanly than pure sales roles.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian business development professionals?
The E-3 is available year-round with no lottery, no annual cap, and a straightforward consular process that typically resolves within a few weeks of LCA certification. The H-1B requires entering a lottery with a roughly 25 percent selection rate and a fixed October start date. For Australians in business development, the E-3 removes the biggest structural risk of U.S. employment, which is not knowing whether you'll be selected at all.
Can I switch New Business Development employers while on an E-3?
Yes, but you must restart the LCA and visa process with the new employer before you begin working for them. Unlike the H-1B, the E-3 has no portability provision, so you can't start a new role while a transfer petition is pending. Plan for a two-to-four-week lead time between accepting a new offer and your actual start date to allow for LCA certification.
