Frame your Australian sales credentials clearly
U.S. hiring managers may not recognise state-based quotas, distributor networks, or retailer channel structures from Australia. Translate your territory metrics into U.S. equivalents like regional revenue targets and named-account pipelines so your experience reads immediately.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
Companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for sales roles before already understand the DOL certification step. Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify distributors, medical device firms, and SaaS companies that regularly sponsor E-3 visa or H-1B workers in sales titles.
Use Migrate Mate to find and file efficiently
Search Territory Sales Manager roles with active E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate, then use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer, so your start date isn't delayed by administrative back-and-forth.
Confirm your degree field supports the role
The E-3 requires a direct relationship between your degree and the specialty occupation. A business or marketing degree clearly supports a Territory Sales Manager role, but a science or engineering degree may require a brief employer letter explaining the connection before USCIS or the consulate reviews your application.
Negotiate your offer before the LCA is filed
The LCA locks in your job title and prevailing wage level with the DOL before your visa application proceeds. Any title change or salary adjustment after certification requires a new LCA, so resolve compensation and territory scope with your employer before they begin the filing process.
Understand the consulate's specialty occupation standard
Some consular officers scrutinise Territory Sales Manager petitions because sales roles span a wide skill range. Ask your employer to include a detailed job description citing the degree requirement explicitly, which addresses the officer's threshold question before it becomes a reason for administrative processing.
E-3 Visa Territory Sales Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Territory Sales Manager jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Territory Sales Manager roles from employers who are open to E-3 visa sponsorship, filtering out positions where sponsorship isn't available. Standard job searches don't distinguish between employers familiar with the E-3 process and those who aren't, so using Migrate Mate saves you from investing time in applications that will stall at the offer stage.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Territory Sales Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
It can, but the role must require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field like business, marketing, or a related discipline. Generic sales roles that accept any degree field or substitute experience for education may not meet the specialty occupation standard. Employers should document the degree requirement in the job description before filing the LCA with the DOL.
How does the E-3 visa compare to H-1B for a Territory Sales Manager role?
The E-3 has no annual lottery, so your start date depends only on consulate processing, not on whether your registration was selected in April. H-1B petitions are subject to the annual cap and a randomised selection process, which means qualified candidates with offers can be turned away through no fault of their own. For Australian professionals, the E-3 is a direct path to a confirmed start.
Can I change employers or territories while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp if you travel internationally before starting. A territory reassignment within the same employer that changes your job duties significantly may also require an amended LCA. You can begin working for a new E-3 employer as soon as USCIS receives the new petition if you're already in the U.S.
