E-3 Visa VP Business Development Jobs
VP Business Development roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, economics, or international relations. Australian professionals can secure two-year renewable E-3 status with no lottery and no annual cap, making executive-level U.S. job searches far more predictable than H-1B.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a VP Business Development
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
VP Business Development roles must clear the DOL's specialty occupation threshold. Make sure your Australian bachelor's degree ties directly to strategic business development, not general management, so your LCA and visa paperwork reflect a clear field-to-role connection.
Target employers with international revenue exposure
Companies operating across APAC and North America already understand cross-border commercial strategy. Prioritise publicly traded firms and global consultancies where a VP BD hire with Australian market knowledge is a structural advantage, not a sponsorship risk.
Request a written sponsorship commitment before resigning
At VP level, offer timelines stretch. Get explicit written confirmation that the employer will file your LCA and support your E-3 before you give notice in Australia, since verbal commitments at executive salary negotiations often stall when HR processes catch up.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
LCA certification through DOL and the subsequent DS-160 and consulate prep involve parallel timelines that are easy to missequence. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage the full process so your start date doesn't slip while your employer's HR team figures out the steps.
Negotiate your start date around consulate appointment availability
Australian consulates in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth have variable E-3 appointment wait times. Build at least four to six weeks of buffer into your offer letter start date so a consulate backlog doesn't put you in breach of your employment agreement before you've begun.
Clarify equity and bonus structures before your LCA is filed
Your LCA locks in a prevailing wage that USCIS uses to assess compliance. VP-level compensation often includes variable bonuses and equity. Confirm with your employer how total compensation is reported to DOL before the LCA is submitted, since amendments are time-consuming.

Find VP Business Development JobsVP Business Development E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find VP Business Development jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for VP Business Development roles with confirmed E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't filter by visa type, so you waste time on roles where sponsorship isn't on the table. Migrate Mate surfaces employers already set up to support E-3 hires, so you can focus your outreach on decision-makers who understand the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a VP Business Development role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
It depends on how the role is defined. E-3 requires that the position normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. A VP BD role framed around strategic partnerships, market development, or international expansion typically qualifies when the employer ties it to a business, economics, or international relations degree. Broadly scoped general management roles are harder to defend.
How does E-3 compare to H-1B for a VP Business Development hire?
For Australian professionals, E-3 is significantly more practical at the VP level. There's no lottery, no annual cap, and no April registration deadline to work around. Your employer can file an LCA and support your application any time of year. H-1B requires surviving a random selection process with roughly a one-in-four chance, which makes executive hiring timelines completely unpredictable.
Can I change employers or get promoted while on an E-3 visa?
Yes to both, but each requires a new LCA filing. If you move to a different employer, your new company must file a fresh LCA with DOL before you start. An internal promotion to a different job title or materially different role also typically requires an amended LCA, since the prevailing wage and occupation code may change. Your E-3 status itself remains valid until expiry.
