Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Web Engineer
Frame your Australian degree for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 visa purposes. Have a credential evaluation ready before interviews so employers don't stall on this question.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's public Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify companies that have filed LCAs for web engineering roles. Prior filings signal a company already understands the E-3 process and won't treat your sponsorship request as unfamiliar paperwork.
Clarify the specialty occupation requirement early
Your job offer must require a degree in a specific field like computer science or software engineering, not just 'any bachelor's degree.' If a listing says 'degree preferred,' ask the recruiter whether the role is classified as a specialty occupation before investing time in the process.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, the employer needs to file a certified LCA with DOL before your consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage the LCA, DS-160, and consulate preparation so nothing falls through between offer acceptance and your start date.
Confirm your employer understands the LCA timeline
DOL typically certifies LCAs within seven business days, but employers unfamiliar with the process often underestimate total lead time. Ask your hiring manager to loop in HR or legal as soon as you receive the offer so your start date isn't delayed by paperwork.
Negotiate your start date around consulate wait times
E-3 consulate appointments in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth can run two to eight weeks depending on the time of year. Build that window into your offer negotiation so your employer sets a start date that's actually achievable without rushing your visa appointment.
E-3 Visa Senior Web Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Senior Web Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Senior Web Engineer roles filtered specifically for E-3 visa sponsorship, so you're not manually sifting through listings from employers unfamiliar with the visa. Because the E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, you can apply and start at any point in the year, which opens more hiring windows than H-1B visa-dependent roles.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Senior Web Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as computer science, software engineering, or information technology. The key is that the degree requirement must be tied to the role itself. A listing that accepts any degree field or treats a degree as optional won't satisfy the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Senior Web Engineer roles?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply when you have an offer rather than waiting for an April registration window. H-1B selection is random and capped at 85,000 per fiscal year, meaning qualified engineers are routinely excluded. For Australian nationals, the E-3 is a more predictable path to the same category of senior engineering roles at U.S. employers.
Can I switch employers after starting work on an E-3 as a Senior Web Engineer?
Yes, but the new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to either apply for a new E-3 visa at an Australian consulate or, in some cases, change status from within the U.S. There's no formal portability provision like AC21 for H-1B holders, so you'll want your new employer to start the LCA process as soon as your offer is accepted.
