Frame your Australian degree for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 visa purposes. Prepare a credential evaluation letter before applying so employers don't stall your offer over degree questions.
Target employers with dedicated HR or legal teams
Mid-to-large companies in B2B software, financial services, and medical devices routinely hire international service and sales staff and have internal processes for E-3 LCA filings. Smaller employers may not, so qualify sponsorship willingness early in conversations.
Search for E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters service and sales roles by employers who actively sponsor E-3 visas, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never navigated the process. Use it to focus your search before reaching out.
Confirm your role meets specialty occupation standards
Not every sales or service position qualifies. The job must normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field, not just any degree. Commission-only or generalist account rep roles sometimes fail this test, so review the job description against DOL specialty occupation criteria before accepting an offer.
Push for a written offer before LCA filing begins
Your employer files the Labor Condition Application with DOL before your visa interview. DOL requires a specific job title, wage, and worksite location, so a verbal or contingent offer isn't enough. Get the written offer in hand and confirm those details are locked before the LCA is submitted.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This matters most for sales roles with territory-based or remote components, where worksite language on the LCA needs to be drafted carefully.
E-3 Visa Service & Sales Representative: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Service & Sales Representative jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Service & Sales Representative roles from employers who have sponsored E-3 visas before, so you're not spending time on companies unfamiliar with the process. Filter by role, location, and industry to find positions where sponsorship is already part of the hiring conversation.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Service & Sales Representative role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
It depends on how the role is defined. The E-3 requires the position to normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as business, communications, or marketing. A strategic account manager or enterprise sales consultant at a tech or financial services company typically qualifies. A general retail sales rep or commission-only role often does not. The job description wording matters significantly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian sales professionals?
The E-3 is available only to Australian nationals and has no lottery, no annual cap, and no random selection. H-1B visa registrants enter a lottery with a roughly 25% selection rate, and an unsuccessful draw means waiting another year. For an Australian in a qualifying service and sales role, the E-3 is a direct path to a U.S. work visa without the H-1B uncertainty.
Can my employer sponsor my E-3 if they have never done it before?
Yes. Any U.S. employer can file an E-3 for the first time. The process starts with a Labor Condition Application filed through DOL's FLAG portal, followed by a visa interview at an Australian consulate. There's no USCIS petition for consular E-3 applicants, which makes it simpler than most work visas. Employers new to E-3 often benefit from structured support to get the LCA details right the first time.
