Overview:
Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.
Responsibilities:
The opportunity
Atlassian is building narrative authority in AI — not just shipping products, but shaping how the market understands what AI for teams actually means. This role is at the center of that effort: turning real product and AI insight into distinctive, sustained executive social presence.
Reporting to the Editorial & Executive lead, you'll partner closely with social media, product marketing and communications team as well as senior executives to develop and execute social content that is credible, timely, and worth paying attention to. The work lives at the intersection of AI fluency, executive voice, and social platform craft.
Why this role matters now
The companies winning attention in AI aren't just building well — they're building narrative authority in public. Social is where that authority compounds. But executive social in AI requires more than polished posts; it requires someone who genuinely understands the technical landscape and can translate that understanding into content that earns engagement from engineers, founders, and enterprise buyers alike.
Atlassian has the ingredients: meaningful product depth, a differentiated point of view on how teams work with AI, and senior leaders who can authentically participate in the conversation. What's needed is someone who can connect those ingredients into a sustained social voice — someone who knows when to engage, what to say, and how to make it land.
- Shape executive social voice: Partnering with product comms, product marketing and senior executives, get inside their perspective and help make their ideas sharper, not just louder. Develop distinctive social content across X, LinkedIn and other platforms
- Track the AI zeitgeist: Monitor what the AI community is debating right now — model breakthroughs, cultural shifts, emerging narratives, technical discourse — and identify the moments worth engaging with
- Convert insight into content: Translate complex AI and product concepts into social posts and threads that resonate with technical insiders and enterprise decision-makers alike
- Build repeatable cadence: Establish social media rhythms, forward content plans, and mechanisms for moving quickly when the right conversation appears
- Counsel on participation: Advise when and how Atlassian should join a public conversation — and when to stay out. Exercise judgment under pressure and speed
- Partner cross-functionally: Work closely with Product Marketing, Brand, Communications, and Executive Operations to ensure social content connects to broader narrative strategy and amplification
- Measure and refine: Track social performance (engagement, impressions, audience growth) and use data to sharpen the approach over time
Compensation:
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. We follow consistent hiring practices and account for each candidate's skills, knowledge, and experience when setting base pay within the range.

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
Pay Ranges:
In The United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $137,700 - $179,775
Zone B: $123,930 - $161,798
Zone C: $114,291 - $149,213
Qualifications
What makes you right for this
You are deeply credible in AI. You can engage authentically with the Silicon Valley AI ecosystem and convert that understanding into executive social posts and counsel that feel original rather than reactive.
You've written executive social for or with a senior leader and know how to amplify their thinking. You can speak authentically to engineers, researchers, and founders, and translate that fluency into narratives that resonate.
Strengths:
- Strong instinct for what the AI community is discussing right now and why it matters
- Ability to write and produce social media content with clarity, authority, and voice for a senior executive
- Comfort moving between technical, strategic, and cultural conversations
- Judgment on when and how a company should join a public conversation
- Platform-native understanding of what performs on X, LinkedIn, and technical communities
- Confidence partnering with senior cross-functional leaders while keeping momentum high
- Speed — you can move from signal to published post within hours, not days

Translate your Australian portfolio for U.S. employers
U.S. hiring managers may not recognize Australian platforms or campaign benchmarks. Reframe your results in terms of Meta Ads Manager, Google Analytics, and U.S. audience metrics so your portfolio speaks directly to what American teams evaluate.
Target employers with existing international hiring programs
Tech companies, media agencies, and consumer brands that already employ international staff on work visas are far more likely to understand E-3 visa sponsorship requirements. Filter your search to organizations with dedicated HR or legal teams experienced in work visa filings.
Confirm your degree maps to the specialty occupation standard
DOL requires the Social Media Strategist role to normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field. If your Australian degree is in a tangential area like business or graphic design, gather evidence that your coursework directly supports the marketing specialty being offered.
Negotiate the LCA filing timeline before accepting an offer
Your employer must file the Labor Condition Application with DOL and receive certification before you can schedule your consulate appointment. Get clarity on who owns that step and how quickly they can move so your start date is realistic.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to streamline your application
Once you have a signed offer letter, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate preparation. This keeps the process moving without requiring your employer to engage outside immigration counsel independently.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your consulate interview
E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers will ask about your ties to Australia and your intentions after the role ends. Have clear, factual answers about your current Australian connections ready before your Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth appointment.
E-3 Visa Social Media Strategist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Social Media Strategist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. Rather than filtering through general job boards that don't distinguish between visa types, Migrate Mate surfaces Social Media Strategist openings at employers who have demonstrated willingness to sponsor international workers, saving you the step of vetting each company's immigration experience separately.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Social Media Strategist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the employer requires a bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, communications, digital media, or a closely related field as a genuine condition of the job. If the role description accepts any degree or substitutes experience freely for education, the specialty occupation standard may not be met. Roles at larger agencies or in-house brand teams typically carry clearer degree requirements that support E-3 eligibility.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Social Media Strategist roles?
The E-3 has a 10,500-slot annual allocation that has never been exhausted, meaning there is no lottery and no random selection. The H-1B visa requires entering a lottery with roughly 25% selection odds in recent years. For an Australian Social Media Strategist, the E-3 allows you to accept an offer and begin the filing process immediately, while H-1B applicants typically wait up to a year from registration to potential work authorization.
Can I switch Social Media Strategist employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but you need a new E-3 for each employer. Your current visa is tied to the specific job and employer listed on your Labor Condition Application. If you change roles or companies, your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL, and you'll need to attend another consulate interview to receive a new E-3 visa stamp before starting with them.
