Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Technical Operations Manager
Translate your credentials for U.S. employers
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes, but spell this out in your resume. Include your field of study alongside your degree title so hiring managers can verify specialty occupation alignment without guesswork.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for operations or technical management roles. Prior LCA activity signals that the employer understands the sponsorship process and won't stall at the paperwork stage.
Frame your role as a specialty occupation upfront
Technical Operations Manager titles can look ambiguous to U.S. hiring teams unfamiliar with E-3 requirements. In early conversations, confirm the role requires a degree in a specific technical field, not just any bachelor's degree, to protect your application from a specialty occupation challenge.
Negotiate LCA filing before resigning in Australia
Your employer must file and receive a certified LCA from DOL before you can attend your consulate appointment. Confirm the LCA is submitted and certified before you give notice at your current job. DOL certification typically takes seven business days.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end preparation
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork through to your consulate appointment. This avoids the common error of misclassifying your prevailing wage level, which can trigger a DOL audit or consular pushback.
Prepare a specialty occupation support letter with your employer
Ask your employer to draft a support letter explaining why the Technical Operations Manager role requires a specific technical degree, not just general management experience. Consular officers scrutinize operations titles more closely than narrower technical roles, so a detailed letter reduces interview friction.

Find Technical Operations Manager JobsTechnical Operations Manager E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Technical Operations Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see employers with verified sponsorship intent, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that don't understand the E-3 process. General job boards don't filter by visa type or sponsorship history, so using a dedicated tool saves significant time.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Technical Operations Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as engineering, industrial management, or operations management, and the job duties directly apply that expertise. Roles where any bachelor's degree satisfies the requirement, regardless of field, are more vulnerable to a specialty occupation challenge at the consulate. Your employer's support letter should clearly tie the degree requirement to the technical duties of the position.
How does the E-3 visa compare to H-1B for Technical Operations Manager roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap, so you can apply at any point in the year and your application isn't subject to random selection. H-1B registration opens once a year in March, and only about one in four registrants is selected. For Technical Operations Manager roles, which are common enough that H-1B competition is high, the E-3 path is considerably more predictable and faster from offer to start date.
Can I change employers or get promoted while on an E-3 as a Technical Operations Manager?
You can change employers, but each new position requires a fresh LCA and a new visa stamp or change of status filing. Promotions within the same employer that involve a material change in duties or wage level also require an amended LCA. Plan for at least seven business days for DOL to certify a new LCA before you transition roles, and don't start with the new employer until the process is complete.
