Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Ultrasound Technologist
Verify your credential equivalency before applying
Australian Medical Imaging or Sonography degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year bachelor's degrees, but have your transcripts assessed by a NACES-recognized evaluator so employers can confirm specialty occupation eligibility without delay.
Target imaging networks with prior E-3 hiring
Large radiology groups, academic medical centers, and multi-site hospital systems file LCAs repeatedly and already have HR processes for E-3 visa workers. Focusing on these employers shortens the sponsorship conversation compared to approaching practices that have never sponsored foreign nationals.
Search E-3 sponsorship jobs through Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Ultrasound Technologist openings by E-3 visa sponsorship, saving you from filtering through roles where employers won't engage. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you land an offer.
Address ARRT registration gaps proactively
U.S. employers often require or prefer American Registry of Radiologic Technologists credentials. If you haven't yet sat the ARRT registry exam, mention your eligibility pathway during interviews so hiring managers understand your timeline before the offer stage.
Confirm the LCA is certified before your interview appointment
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and receive certification before you can attend your consular interview. E-3 processing is typically faster than H-1B visa, but a pending LCA will stall your consulate date regardless of how quickly USCIS moves.
Negotiate who files the visa paperwork upfront
Unlike H-1B, the E-3 doesn't require a USCIS petition, so some employers assume you'll handle your own consular paperwork. Clarify filing responsibilities during the offer negotiation so there's no confusion about who prepares the I-129 or coordinates the DS-160 completion.
E-3 Visa Ultrasound Technologist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Ultrasound Technologist jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point, as it surfaces Ultrasound Technologist roles specifically filtered for E-3 visa sponsorship. Most standard job boards don't let you filter by visa type, so you end up cold-screening hundreds of listings. Migrate Mate removes that step by connecting Australian sonographers directly with employers who have already committed to sponsoring E-3 workers.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Ultrasound Technologist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in sonography, medical imaging, or a directly related field. Roles that accept any degree, or where formal imaging education isn't a stated requirement, can fail the specialty occupation test. Employers in hospital systems and accredited imaging centers typically structure job descriptions in a way that meets this standard, while some smaller practices may not.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Australian Ultrasound Technologists?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any point in the year and your employer doesn't need to win a random selection to proceed. H-1B registrations are capped at 85,000 per fiscal year and subject to a lottery with a selection rate well below 50% in recent years. For Australian sonographers, the E-3 is a more predictable and repeatable pathway, renewable indefinitely in two-year increments.
Can I switch Ultrasound Technologist employers while on an E-3 visa?
You can change employers, but you need a new LCA certified by the DOL and a new E-3 visa reflecting the new employer before you start the role. Unlike some other visa categories, there's no portability provision that lets you transfer E-3 status to a new employer automatically. If you're changing jobs, start the LCA process with the new employer before your current position ends to avoid a gap in authorization.
