E-3 Visa Veterinarian Jobs
Veterinarian roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when the position requires a veterinary degree, making this one of the more straightforward specialty occupation cases for Australian vets. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so qualified candidates can pursue U.S. roles year-round without the H-1B timing constraints.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Veterinarian
Verify your degree meets U.S. equivalency standards
Australian veterinary degrees are typically accepted as equivalent to a U.S. DVM or VMD, but your employer may request a credential evaluation. Have your transcripts assessed by a NACES-approved evaluator before applying to confirm equivalency upfront.
Target employers with active USDA accreditation needs
Practices that handle international animal movement, food safety inspection, or federal veterinary roles require USDA-accredited vets. These employers are already familiar with federal licensing requirements and are more likely to understand E-3 sponsorship obligations.
Search for E-3 sponsorship roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters veterinary job listings by E-3 visa sponsorship availability, so you're not cold-applying to roles where the employer has no sponsorship history. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer.
Confirm your state license path before accepting an offer
Each U.S. state issues its own veterinary license, and some require NAVLE passage before you can practice. Employers can file your E-3 LCA with DOL while your state licensing application is in progress, so the two processes can run concurrently.
Ask employers about LCA prevailing wage compliance early
The DOL requires employers to pay at least the prevailing wage for your role and location on the certified LCA. Raise this in your offer negotiation, not after, so your offered salary is already compliant when the employer files.
Use consulate choice strategically for your interview
Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth all process E-3 applications, but appointment wait times differ by consulate and season. If your start date is fixed, check availability at all three locations rather than defaulting to the nearest office.

Find Veterinarian JobsVeterinarian E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find veterinarian jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point for Australian vets searching for E-3 sponsorship roles. The platform lists veterinary positions where employers are open to sponsoring E-3 applicants, filtering out roles where you'd need to assess sponsorship willingness yourself. Most general job boards don't indicate visa sponsorship status by visa type, so a targeted search saves significant time.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a veterinarian role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Veterinary medicine is one of the cleaner specialty occupation cases for the E-3 because the role has a direct, degree-specific requirement. A DVM or equivalent is required by state licensing boards to practice, which satisfies the USCIS standard that the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. The field-to-role alignment is direct and well-documented.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for veterinarians in the U.S.?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but it has a major structural advantage over the H-1B: no lottery. H-1B requires registration each March with selection determined by random draw, meaning a qualified candidate can be rejected purely by chance. The E-3 has an annual allocation of 10,500 visas that has never been filled, so eligible Australian vets can apply at any time of year and receive a decision on merit.
Can I start work before my state veterinary license is issued?
Your E-3 visa can be filed and approved before your state license is in hand, but you cannot legally practice veterinary medicine in most states until the license is issued. Some employers use this period for onboarding, orientation, or non-clinical roles. Confirm with your employer how they handle the gap between your start date and license issuance before signing your offer letter.
