Frame your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 visa purposes. Get a credential evaluation letter ready before you apply so employers don't hesitate at the offer stage.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have filed LCAs for marketing leadership roles. Prior LCA activity signals a company already understands the E-3 process and won't back out over paperwork.
Position your VP title against the specialty occupation standard
The E-3 requires the role to normally demand a degree in a specific field. For VP Marketing, your offer letter should explicitly tie the position to marketing strategy, not general management, to satisfy USCIS's specialty occupation definition.
Negotiate LCA filing into your offer timeline
The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment can be scheduled. Ask your prospective employer to begin LCA filing within a week of your offer letter so you don't lose weeks waiting while your start date approaches.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork
VP-level hires often involve tight start dates. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA submission through consulate preparation, so neither you nor your employer has to coordinate multiple moving parts under deadline pressure.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your consulate interview
Consular officers assess whether you intend to return to Australia. As a senior executive, have clear answers about your ongoing Australian ties, such as property, superannuation, or family, to demonstrate nonimmigrant intent without undermining your U.S. career plans.
E-3 Visa VP Marketing: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find VP Marketing jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters U.S. job listings by E-3 visa sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to employers who have never sponsored an Australian professional before. For VP Marketing roles, focus your search on mid-to-large companies in technology, consumer brands, and professional services, where marketing leadership is a defined specialty function rather than a general management task.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a VP Marketing role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position is structured around marketing expertise rather than general business administration. USCIS evaluates whether a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as marketing, communications, or business with a marketing concentration, is normally required for the role. Your employer's offer letter and job description need to reflect that degree requirement explicitly. Roles framed as general leadership positions without a field-specific degree requirement can face scrutiny.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for VP Marketing roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens but has no annual lottery, no cap to hit, and can be filed any time of year. The H-1B visa is open to all nationalities but requires winning a lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate. For a VP-level hire where timing and certainty matter, the E-3 is a far more predictable path. An employer sponsoring an Australian VP of Marketing can start the LCA process the week an offer is signed and target a consulate appointment within weeks.
Can I change employers on an E-3 if a better VP Marketing opportunity comes up?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific, so your new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new visa stamp for the role change. You can start working for the new employer after your new visa is issued. There's no portability mechanism like some other visa categories, so plan your transition timeline around a full new filing cycle with your incoming employer.
