The Childcare Educator is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. The Educator supports children's cognitive, social, emotional, physical, language, and creative development while maintaining compliance with all licensing, health, safety, and program requirements.

The Educator serves as a positive role model and works collaboratively with families, coworkers, and administration to support each child's growth and success.

The transcript must at least meet one of the following to qualify:

• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential for Preschool or Birth-to-Five
• Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development

Applicants must pass:

• Fingerprint & background check
• A negative TB test
• Provide documentation of current CPR/First Aid training.
• Only candidates with valid transcripts for this position will be considered.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to:

• Lift up to 40 pounds.
• Sit on the floor and interact with children.
• Bend, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently.
• Move quickly to respond to children's needs and emergencies.
• Participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
• Remain standing or walking for extended periods.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Child Supervision and Safety

• Maintain constant active supervision of children at all times.
• Ensure children's safety indoors, outdoors, during field trips, and during transitions.
• Follow all licensing regulations, center policies, and safety procedures.
• Conduct regular classroom safety inspections and report hazards immediately.
• Monitor arrival and departure procedures.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies, injuries, illnesses, and behavioral incidents.
• Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and other required certifications.

Child Development and Education

• Plan and implement age-appropriate learning experiences.
• Support children's development in:
• Language and literacy
• Mathematics
• Science
• Social studies
• Physical development
• Social-emotional learning
• Creative arts
• STEAM education
• Foster curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
• Encourage positive peer interactions and conflict resolution.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
• Promote school readiness and lifelong learning.

Classroom Management

• Create and maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Establish consistent routines and expectations.
• Use positive guidance techniques and appropriate behavior management practices.
• Encourage independence and responsibility.
• Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness.
• Wipe floor and 3-step cleaning tables.
• Might be required to clean and sanitize dishes and toys.
• Prepare learning materials and classroom activities.
• Ensure equipment and materials are used safely.

Observation and Assessment

• Observe and document children's development and progress.
• Complete developmental assessments as required.
• Identify concerns regarding development, behavior, or learning.
• Collaborate with administration and families regarding concerns.
• Maintain accurate and timely records.

Parent and Family Communication

• Build positive relationships with families.
• Communicate regularly regarding children's progress, achievements, and concerns.
• Greet families professionally during drop-off and pick-up.
• Respond to parent inquiries respectfully and promptly.
• Participate in conferences, family events, and center activities as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families.

Health and Wellness

• Follow all health and sanitation procedures as outlined in center's policy statement.
• Monitor children for signs of illness.
• Ensure proper handwashing and hygiene practices.
• Serve meals and feed children.
• Label and date opened food.
• Log refrigerator's temperature
• Maintain accurate health records and incident reports.
• Support healthy eating habits and physical activity.
• Change diapers

Documentation and Recordkeeping

• Complete daily attendance records on center's app.
• Maintain child files and classroom documentation.
• Record incidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, and parent communications.
• Complete required reports accurately and timely.
• Protect confidential information.Teamwork and Professionalism
• Work cooperatively with coworkers and administration.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
• Accept coaching and feedback professionally.
• Demonstrate flexibility in classroom assignments and scheduling.
• Assist other classrooms when needed.
• Support center-wide goals and initiatives.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude.

Compliance Responsibilities

• Comply with all applicable:
• Center's policy statement and procedures
• Michigan Childcare Licensing Rules
• Child Development and Care (CDA) requirements
• Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) requirements (if applicable)
• Health and safety regulations
• Report suspected child abuse or neglect as stated in the policy.
• Complete required professional development and training hours.

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
