Position Overview

The Learning Specialist will play a critical role in supporting our students' core academic growth in Reading and Math. While also teaching enrichment subjects such as hands-on science and cooking class. This hybrid position involves direct, small-group instruction on-site, coupled with flexible, work-from-home planning hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct Instruction: Teach targeted small groups in Reading and Math on-site two days per week from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Teach two-three classes per week such as science, technology, and cooking.
• Curriculum & Lesson Planning: Organize, plan, and adapt Reading and Math curriculum tailored to student needs (3–5 hours per week, work from home).
• Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs): Develop, maintain, and monitor personalized learning plans to meet each student’s unique learning goals.
• Assessment & Data Leadership: Lead and oversee standardized testing, including NWEA MAP and M-STEP assessments.
• Family Communication: Maintain regular, clear, and positive communication with families regarding student progress and learning goals.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with school leadership and staff to align instructional strategies with the school’s core philosophy.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Certification: Valid Teaching Certificate from any U.S. State or Other College Degree.
• Core Skills: Strong background in Reading and Math instruction, small-group facilitation, and assessment management.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with colleagues and families.
• Self-Motivated: Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively manage remote planning hours.
• Reliability & Professionalism: High dedication to dependability. We rely on our educators to be punctual, show up consistently for all scheduled shifts, and uphold a high standard of professional commitment to our students and staff.

Schedule & Hours

• Total Hours: 12 hours per week.
• On-Site Instruction: Mondays 8:30am-3:30pm, Thursdays 9:00 AM – 11am (9 hours total).
• Remote Planning/Admin: 3 hours per week (Flexible work-from-home hours).
• Additional Flexible Hours: Opportunities to pick up extra hours as a substitute teacher as needed.
